I believe my seller did not ship the item because it is now worth twice as much.
So what do you do when you buy a GPU at $2000 two days before the market melts down, and the seller makes a label but never sends the item? I am pretty sure he kept the item to sell later at twice the price since there is no house to buy anywhere near MSRP. The eBay MBG is of no help here. I need $4400 now to get the an equivalent item.
What are my options here, as I feel I got screwed.

·1 year agoTrafficking in GPUs is a frustrating and risky online activity for both buyers and sellers.
If you avoid losing your money, you will be better off than many who try.
People who wish to use a GPU on their computer suffer the most, even when there is no fraud.
Like it or not, you are a speculator when you buy or sell these goods, and speculation is zero sum, there are as many losers as there are winners.

·1 year agoSeller may be "borrowing" your money or they do not have the item in stock or they are preparing to sell it locally for more. Clearly they are milking the time to hold onto your money.
Also, was not aware we are entering another GPU shortage era. The last one with the miners was bad enough.

A new seller has a 30 day Hold on customer payments, pending customer satisfaction.
or they do not have the item in stock
Which means they get an Out Of Stock defect on their first sale. Good way to never have a second sale.

Gambling that the price goes up? And what if it goes down?
The seller does not have the payment. EBay has it in escrow.
That is the point of all the posts from the experienced sellers here.

There was an estimated delivery date in the listing. If your item does not arrive by that date, you can open an item not received case the day after that.

OP1 year agoBecause the market value has changed dramatically, in the 36 hours from when I purchased the item. Look up NVIDIA paper launch, that gives the catalyst for what happened. But y)3 sort form answer it the product went from around $2200 to in some cases people asking $5200 for the same item used. There are no flagship GPUs out there because the demand is so high.

You replied to sohmaryl questions asking why you do not think the MBG will work, writing:

A rise in market price does not affect your ability to use the money back guarantee (MBG). The seller either ships for the price you paid or does not. If they do not then on the day after the last estimated delivery date you can open an Item not received (INR) dispute.
If you do as I suggested in my first reply, and message them telling them to look up the info about the payment holds, they may ship the item. You have 30 days from the last estimated delivery date shown in your Order details to file a dispute. So if you do contact them give them a day or so to respond. If you do not hear any thing from them, then file the INR dispute.
To do that open the More actions, you have to click on Return the item, to get the drop down menu of reasons. From that menu select I haven't received it. follow through to file the dispute which will appear just above your purchase history.
If the seller doesn't respond within 3 days by proving it is in the hands of a carrier, on day four open the dispute and click on the Ask ebay to step in button. You will be sent a refund from the sellers account, by ebay.

OP1 year agoYeah, this seller does not communicate at all. I think he may have said a total of 12 words in the last two weeks. I am pretty sure I am going to have to get my money back and now pay some scaler $4k for the same thing if I can even find one by that time at that price.
Yeah I have given up any hope that this guy is even interested in doing the right thing.

·1 year agoThats not 'scalping', since this is not an essential item needed during an national emergency. Sellers can charge what they want for their items.

OP1 year agoUmm, it’s still called scalping when you are changing 250% for a product. Yes us in the PC world know it is, what it is, and I don’t have to like it as I was already paying over MSRP for a product that was last gen. I just did not want to pay $4000+ for a product I had already bought at $2000. So yeah defend the guy that is currently screwing me out of my product and probably another $2000.
I have literally given this guy ever opportunity to get this right. He has officiated and delayed. He told me he dropped it off at this PO and after calling them, I was assured they had no non windowed drop offs and it was nearly impossible for this tiny PO not to have scanned the item in. So please tell me how he has done any of the is work. I have spent hours trying to verify the shipping, along with using my connections in USPS, with nothing. So yeah I am a bit hot under the collar. But again tell me how I should be okay with not getting the item and getting my money back in order to have to spend over twice what I had already spent for an item.
And yes I know the item is non-essential, but would cut the amount of time I spend on rendering work by nearly 60%. May not mean much to you, but you don’t live in my shoes.

That may be true, but the fact that the market has changed dramatically has no impact on the MBG or how it's applied.

The reply by simba6 about the payment hold is probably the reason why the seller has not shipped.
Many of not most new sellers these days do not know about the payment hold, because that info is buried deep in the getting started selling information ebay puts out. Sellers who run into the hold often print out labels but do not ship the item because on their account the payment status shows Pending, so they do not think the funds are there. Messages from buyers about shipping may be taken by new sellers as an attempt to scam them some how, which is why they often ignore them or reply with excuses.
If you want the item and not a refund, you could try messaging the seller again, and tell them if they have not shipped the item because of the Pending status of your payment, to do a google search for " Payments on hold, eBay ". If they do that they will get the information they need to ship the item and complete the transaction. You might also want to add that while searching for info about the hold to also do one for " How do I send a feedback revision request, eBay " so if they ship the item you can revise the feedback once you receive and test the item if it checks out.
Jumping to conclusions about a seller's motivations for not shipping, and posting them, is not a smart thing to do. Another seller could see that and the seller's feedback number, and decide you are not someone they want to deal with, since as long as you buy only on ebay, you will have a 100% rating, because buyers cannot receive anything but positive feedback. That means your reputation is based on the feedback you leave others. They see offers of revision in a non positive comment, as feedback extortion.

·1 year agoThat is a lot of money to spend on a zero feedback seller for such a high fraud item. You have to wait one day past the last given delivery date. If it's not arrived by then, file an item not as described case.
A far bigger worry is the fake tracking number scam. If tracking says it was delivered but it was not. Do NOT file an item not received case, you will LOSE. If that happens, come back here and let us know. We will then advise on how to proceed.
eBay can't force a seller to sell however.

OP1 year agoThing is the label was made and the item never sent. The label was to the right address and I made an inquiry with USPS and the receiving PO called me, which happened to be my PO. So that part was correct. Yeah I took a chance and I got screw d at least that is what it feels like. Though the seller has been responding to messages. I think he just kept the package because it is worth double now.

·1 year agoJust keep an eye on the delivery date and be ready to file a case. Your " seller " has over 9000.00 worth of items listed.
The other thing is since they are a new seller, they will have a 30 day hold on the payment. I suspect even longer given the merchandise they have listed. They may not want to ship until the have the money in hand but that won't happen.
Since they paid for a shipping label, it could be the hold on the funds.

OP1 year agoThey are also not very good at comms. So in order to add pressure, I put a neutral review. I will change it depending on out come. But yeah, not a fan of the scalping at this rate. I don’t mind a few hundred but over 200% this is stipid. Thnx NVIDIA great launch. I personally just want the flag ship last gen card because of the TBP on the 5090 is almost 600w.
But yeah thnx on the insight to the payment hold. But I suspect he held on to the card as to resell it at the new market price instead of what I bought it for.
