Hi.! The item I bought was “delivered” today to an individual. I was home whole day and received 3 packages from ebay. This one particular package was NOT included in those that were delivered. So I checked the tracking again. It was delivered to an individual in a different zip code.! My address zip code is 90810, it was delivered to an address somewhere in 90831. I notified the seller right away with snap shots of the tracking info. Seller responded that they dont have time to deal with USPS, that its between me and ebay and USPS now to handle this problem….. I cant believe what I read…I am a seller too and I was not expecting that response. Still, thank God, as a seller I have not experience this situation yet, but I will step up and reassure my buyer that I will contact the post office or I will refund if I find no answer from the carrier since I can file insurance claim anyway, I will make sure to say and do action to a-peace my buyer’s feelings. Anyway, given that, as a buyer, I do not know what to do now. Any suggestions? Please help anyone? Thank you in advance guys 🙂 more power to all of you.!

Thank you. Guess I just wasn't thinking about the tracking showing a different zip code; I was just thinking about the tracking showing delivered.

·4 months agoEbay makes it so hard for a buyer to win a fake tracking claim that there are sellers who run this scam with any random tracking number.

·4 months agoI'm speaking to you as a seller here. If a package shows it was delivered, you can certainly file a claim if you'd like, but the claim will be denied without proof it was not delivered to the address on the shipping label. As a seller, you need to understand you are only responsible until there is a delivery scan. As long as you are not scamming your buyer and are sending your orders to the address the buyer provided, if the carrier messes up, that is between them and the buyer. If someone steals the package off the porch of the buyer, that is on the buyer. You need to be very careful about haphazardly refunding buyers or else you will fall victim to scams by buyers.
Now, I'm speaking to you as a buyer. You say the package was delivered to a different zip code. I'm not so sure this is the fake tracking scam. It could be a poor attempt at one, but generally the scam seller wants the package delivered to the same zip code as the buyer's since that is what eBay will go by. I'd open up an Item Not Received case, force the seller to respond and ask eBay to step in if they do not refund you.

In this case, since @ron_storm says the package was delivered to a different zip, if he files an INR claim, wouldn't the seller just have to enter the tracking number and the package would show as delivered and OP's INR claim would be denied.? Asking eBay to step in would be a moot point if the claim is denied. Am I overlooking something here?

·4 months agoIf it shows it was delivered to a different zip code, they should win an INR case.
They might have to appeal it if it's denied and get someone to check the tracking.

·4 months ago@kensgiftshop already replied with the correct answer. Different zip codes should win the buyer the case one way or the other, because it proves the seller send the order to the wrong address. That's why I said if it is a scam, it is a bad attempt at one because to pull it off correctly the seller needs to send it to an address in the same zip code. Carriers do make mistakes when delivering and it is possible that's what happened. The OP should still file an INR in my opinion and, whether the seller makes the mistake of letting eBay refund them or the seller refunds them, the seller can file a claim for misdelivery.
I don't think this is a scam situation. My guess is the seller responded in the manner they did because they are thinking as long as there is a delivery scan, they are off the hook. That's true 99% of the time, but if the carrier misdelivers they could be on the hook if the buyer has to force an appeal. This could also be a situation where eBay gives a courtsey refund.

·4 months agoNot sure it's a scam or just delivered wrong.
If it was a scam, they would use the same zip code for it to work.

·4 months agoSounds like the fake tracking scam.
File a case, report the seller, and get your money back through eBay or your payment service.
