how to serch for items denominated in USD only (no canadian dollars)
If one searches for "ide sata adaptor" with "lowest price" it's populated with items denominated with canadian currency listings. The usd conversion price is misleading as I think PP charges a flat transaction fee on top of the conversion rate, making the search utterly misleading and useless. Why can't we just select search in USD? - and limiting to North America items doesn't achieve the desired goal as it eliminates sellers from overseas.

·2 years agoThe conversion price is shown and it's not misleading. ADYEN is eBay's payment processor. PayPal fees for using them at checkout are between you and PayPal.

search for me yielded mostly US dollar results on the first page. Only one listing was a Canadian one in Canadian dollars. I got a couple of results from Europe and a good handful from China.
By the way, the USD conversion isn’t misleading; it’s an approximation and states as much on the listing page. Keep in mind that currencies have “buy†and “sell†rates which are different from each other and the eBay approximation splits the market rates’ difference. Also, some buyers prefer having their credit card issuer convert the currency rather than PayPal, or don’t use PayPal at all and as these payment methods have their own exchange rates/conversion fees, it’s pretty much impossible for eBay to display a one size fits all conversion.

·2 years agoThere used to be a filter to limit results to a particular currency but it was eliminated years ago (I seem to remember they had problems making it work).
Limiting it to items in North America wouldn't work anyway since it would include Canadian listings (not sure about Mexico).
The "approximate" conversion to USD is ALWAYS too low since it is calculated with "mid-market rate" quotes instead of the retail "buy rate" you will have to pay Adyen or PayPal or your credit card or bank.

Make sure you are logged in to the .com USA site. Know that Canada IS IN NORTH AMERICA, and perhaps you should use the US only filter.
In addition, though "lowest price and shipping" is supposed to simply be a filter, some manipulation has seemingly taken over, so that the total items available using that filter is drastically reduced as far as the number of items are concerned. Someone suggested to use "highest first" and go to the end of the listings to find the lowest price. It is not to eBay's advantage to show you the lowest price.
