How to report a seller who might be a scammer>
There's a seller on ebay who looks like they are NOT selling their product. They listed an old whiskey bottle of my great-grandfather's. I wanted to buy it for our bar. We have his original bar and wanted to have collectables. We didn't think it was possible to find old bottles of his. Anyway, it was listed for a decent price. Then I contacted the seller. Next I know, the person put on their vacation status and raised the price to $200. So I waited until they were back. Contacted them again. Then they again changed their vacation status until next month and raised the price again. Its not worth it, but I wanted to know if this person can be reported. I believe this person is scamming. I just want others to be aware.

Sellers often raise the prices of their listings to far beyond market value when they go on vacation, to discourage someone from buying it while they're away. Vacation status isn't just used for vacations. It's possible the seller has some kind of family emergency and thus has more important things to tend to than holding the hand of a potential buyer. There are dozens of possible scenarios here, so it seems very unfair to immediately jump to "scammer". And there is absolutely nothing to report.
I'm curious why you felt you had to contact the seller rather than just making the purchase when you saw it?

They probably think they can get more money because maybe you mentioned its significance to you and they may think you will pay more for sentimental value?

·11 months agoWhen it was listed for a decent price why didn't you buy it then? If the seller didn't follow through with the transaction you would be covered under the money back guarantee. They may not be at there computer right now and purposely increasing the price so you don't buy it. I would say do not buy this item from this seller. You can report the seller buy clicking on the "?" in the right corner in the listing however keep in mind reporting a seller doesn't guarantee a removal.
