How long to wait.
Items sent to me were not what I paid for and definitely not what the listing was for. When I received them yesterday, 9/5, I sent a message to the seller telling them there is a problem and explained the problem.
Is there a timeframe I should wait for the seller to respond to my message, or should I just start the request for return process? Figured I would give the seller some time to respond, but not really sure how long.
Thanks
P.S. I did sent pictures of what the listing showed and what I received.

I'm assuming you reported either the seller, the listing, or both. Those reports are decided by AI, so it's not unusual for it to not see anything. Where you really report the seller is by opening an item not as described case. Those directly affect seller metrics; it doesn't take many of them to result in penalties ranging from higher fees to loss of selling privileges. So while eBay may not take action in exactly the way you think they should, rest assured they do take action.

While it was nice of you to let the seller know about the problem, there are some things to consider. It is NOT advisable to agree to a "reshipment" if it is suggested by the seller as a solution. Once you do that, and the seller does not perform, you will be in a worse position. You do not want to agree to any solution that would possibly extend the the situation past your "30 day" resolution period. Give it a few days, and do what others have suggested. File for a 'return' for an item not described reason. If you do not get a return shipping label, return to the case on day 4, and escalate it (aka 'ask ebay to step in and help') .
Come back and let us know if you need more advice, and how the situation works out for you.

You have 30 days from the date tracking showed the package received to open an 'item not as described' return. It's great to give the seller a chance to respond, but honestly it's safer to do the return through the eBay process. And if the seller responds to the case by voluntarily sending a return label there's no harm to their account, so you're not penalizing the seller by not waiting.

·1 year agoSo what do you do when the Seller does respond with an excuse, "I didn't know it wasn't (the product she had listed) a ghd? Seller doesn't provide any options or attempt to resolve the issue, only "So sorry." This sale was clearly a misrepresentation (fraud) of a higher-end product, but what was received was a cheap knockoff.

You do exactly what I said in my previous post, which is open an 'item not as described' return. Go to the item in your purchase history, click Return under More actions, and select that the item was not as described in the listing as the reason.

·1 year agoThank you for the reminder. I've completed that step and been advised that if I don't hear back from the Seller by September 22nd, I should again reach out and contact eBay, and they will try to step in to resolve it.
What I find insulting is that they have a Seller who is a scammer (evidence to back it up in writing), but instead of looking at the principal of her actions (misrepresentation and fraud) more seriously, such as it is, gaslighting me as a Buyer, by responding with the "Seller did not violate any of our eBay policies" is like being punched in the stomach and then being told you don't matter or it's not that big of a deal. I've seen people locked up for less serious things than fraud in my career.
As far as I'm concerned, eBay is not a company I will be doing business with ever again. If my money, time, and efforts don't mean anything at all, then fine. I'll spend my money with another business that's willing to get a backbone and not let shady Sellers define their business.

You have received information as to what you need to do -- open an item not as described case with eBay. Follow the directions given here.

·1 year agoWhat you need to do is file a "item not described" case against the seller and print out the return label. Return the item. You have a 30 day money back guarantee.
