How do you view an original listing and stop eBay from redirecting you?
Summary: damonnyc expressed frustration over being redirected to "similar" auctions on eBay when trying to view details of a lost auction. They want to access the original auction through their email link or Watchlist without dealing with redirects or editing links. simba6 suggested using the 'sold items' filter on the search page, but damonnyc couldn't locate it. Other participants, mmadigan and stainlessenginecovers, mentioned that a link to the original listing often appears beside the redirected item. eburtonlab explained the potential reasons for the redirection and provided a workaround using a specific URL format to avoid redirects.
When I lose an auction, I want to see details of the product the that I lost. But when I click on the auction in the email link or my Watchlist, I'm FORCIBLY redirected to a new "similar" auction. I don't want to bid again until I see the exact specs of what I had originally wanted. This is especially true of computer components.
How do I stop being FORCIBLY redirected? How do I access the original auction? I don't want to have to deal with editing links or the app. Or to search for ended listings. I want to be able to click on the email or Watchlist.
Why did eBay stop allowing users to easily look at the original listing? It makes me want to go directly to Amazon instead of looking at their forced "suggestions." Thanks for any help you can offer.

·3 weeks agoeBay sometimes redirects from the original listing to another listing or to a generic product page. There are multiple reasons for this. Usually there is a link back to the original listing, but that may not always appear.
One thing you can try is to paste your original item number into a link like this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/127153603865?nordt=true
If the original listing is still on the site, that should find it. If not, try the same thing on ebay.ca instead of ebay.com -- that will sometimes work, as the Canadian site seems to keep listings around a little bit longer.
The nordt=true parameter refers to "no redirect", I believe.

·3 weeks ago · Edited@damonnyc You CANNOT stop the redirect.
What you can do is 'Click' the "See Original Listing" next to the picture.

·3 weeks agoWhen I go to my watch list or pull up the auction from an email I also receive a list of similar auctions, but at the top of the listing is a link to see the original listing.
