How do you fix a fraud case dealt by a seller
Here's my situation and I hope maybe I get some sort of resolution out of this but eBay is a pain in the ass and doesn't help legit buyers or sellers. So my issue was I was looking to purchase a stereo equipment power surge protector that weighs about. You know over 40 to 50 lb Furman 15i. Occasionally... You may find audio files like myself. Looking for a good deal. + I realized that maybe in search of a good deal. I got in with a shady seller. The item was listed at open auction with free shipping which should have clued me into as something as possible fraud or suspect. But you know I've met a lot of good audio file vendors on eBay so I gave it a roll. I won the bid. The item was apparently supposedly shipped. Oddly, when I was tracking the item it looked weird with another address or another destination location. It was initially coming to San Antonio and I thought great!... But then I started seeing another city in South Texas popping up. It made no sense to me, so as I kept following the tracking it showed that the item was delivered and I thought well. That's weird because I know the postman here and I was at home all that day and nothing arrived and nothing happened on item that weighs over 60 lb in a box. Contacted the seller. He put me off and said you know follow up with the postal I did. I waited then I made a claim. Then I got a little worried cuz my complex is very good about dealing with heavy big items like that. I involved the United States postal service representative post office where I live. They did some research + they said a letter was delivered. Somehow with that tracking number ending up in Brownsville Texas. The letter was no more than 3 oz. I notified the seller and I got nothing. The representative that I talked to from the post office near me said this is very typical of fraud that she has seen when dealing with cases like this. She was kind enough to draft me an email stating the issue and they're concerned that this is complete fraud. I thought I sent everything to eBay when I opened up a case and they basically came back as case closed. I reopened it a case again explaining the issue but this time with a little bit more anger + they heard me out and reopened. They said it would take 2 days to find a decision. Well less than 6 hours they came to conclusion that I was the one being fraud. This befuddles me cuz you cannot appeal a final decision from eBay when evidently the postal service says this is fraud. I am out of options and don't know what to do and I'm just fuming mad thinking I will never trust eBay in their policy for money back guarantee or that the fact that they try to help customers that make purchases on there... Is there a higher authorities? What I wonder when they come to a conclusion that they don't think it's fraud. There's got to be a recourse. I'm out $750. I feel hopeless in this matter cuz I cannot get to a real person and explain the situation and walk through my concerns. Very respectively, hopeless buyer. I'm utd-chi...

·2 years agoI would first contact my bank and inform them of the fraud. Have them to completely close out your credit for future use. I would also file a police report and send the police to the address you sent the items to. Try your best to find the address of this individual seller, who's a fraudster, by informing the police, because that is a Felony in most states, anything over $250. Inform the police that you notified Ebay and how they responded to you. Ask them what your next steps should be?

OP2 years agoI use PayPal and they're not very helpful.. All they keep doing is saying go back and contact customer help with eBay since it was done there the transaction through my PayPal account. And do I contact San Antonio local police or somewhere in near Miami that local police?

·2 years agoYou actually have to start at this page so PayPal doesn't keep telling you to work it out at the gym with eBay.

The reason why eBay turned you down is they do not accept emails as proof of anything because emails can be faked.

How did you reopen a dispute? If you looked up an ebay customer service phone number online you were not speaking to anyone connected with ebay. You can only request a callback from ebay, and those reps work for a 3rd party call center and can only deal with issues written down in the play book they have been given, which doesn't cover everything.

IMO, as an audiophile since I was a teen, who runs vintage equipment including tube powered and solid state amplifiers. I wouldn't waste my money on the Furman equipment. I now live in a semi rural area that up until a few years ago was constantly dealing with power outages, brownouts and power spikes.
When I moved here 20 some years ago I went to the shop has been servicing my equipment, since the 60s. They helped me build my Heathkit A-8A way back in the day. I asked for their advice about surge protectors and was told that a good quality surge protector was the best way to go, but to keep checking as newer ones became available. I'm currently using an APC P11U2 strip. Cost around $50.
Lets face it, power conditioners may be needed when equipment is being transported and used in many venues especially larger ones. However for home use, they are not often needed unless you have some very old wiring which can cause "noise" in home stereo equipment. If you have an old tube powered amp or radio, that was designed when the power grid was based on 110-115 volts, you can either buy a Variac or read up on how to use an old Lionel transformer to control power output.

Why should a buyer have to go through the "usual drill" when the parcel shows DELIVERED TO A DIFFERENT City/Zip Code? The OP says he is out $750. What about the "signature confirmation" requirement? While we all know that anyone's signature will usually suffice, but a conflicting delivery city/zip should not be ignored. The distance from Brownsville to San Antonio is 277 miles.
It is looking to me like eBay has cranked up the auto denial setting on their bot of late. That in addition to their "in writing" requirement is NOT doing to improve this situation. Going to add another victim to my list this morning.

-- file a dispute here with your documents, reason delivered to the wrong address.
Don't talk to the seller or contact eBay anymore. Then if the seller uploads that tracking number again

·2 years agoYou need to get an actual letter from USPS stating that information, not just an email.
File mail fraud and a police report, then use those to appeal the case.

·2 years agoContact Ebay for Business on Facebook. You will get an American Rep that goes off common sense rather than reading off a script. Alot of stuff is rubberstamped by untrained employees. Was the case Item Not Received? If so that is strange Ebay closed the case since it wasn't delivered to your address. Did you pay by PayPal or Credit Card? You can try to file with them. Since this sounds like fraud send another message to seller saying you will be reporting them to the US Government unless you get a refund.

OP2 years agoSo after getting a letter from the USPS ...they still rejected my claim.... I'm done leaving soon as I can get some this cleared up. I'm done. I will try the eBay for business but I don't think that makes any bit of difference
