How do I STOP getting offers from the seller once and for all? Nothing works.
I'm selling, and doing a lot of research for items. No matter what I uncheck, it seems to continue. How can I stop getting these offers once and for all? Does anyone know? I have unchecked "offers to buyers" in communications preferences and yet it won't stop. Thank you

·1 year agoYou can't. I've tried everything. The box I need to check is stop offers from sellers, not buyers. I just ignore them. I used to decine them, but now I just ignore. They often come within seconds of watching an item. I often wonder why the seller doesn't just lower the price for everyone and not just watchers.

·9 months agoBecause they are wanting impulse buyers to buy at full price. if impulse doesn't work it will send a offer later

·1 year agoGlad my item could help. I've been getting some weirdness lately, the other day I was implored to take an in-depth look at 3 items. It caught my eye b/c they were all MY items, so already that was odd, but all 3 of them were my SOLD items. I've never seen that before. I've certainly seen ads & promos for items I've looked at, but not my own items & certainly not my own already sold items (I sell one-offs). I believe this was on the app, but I can't remember for sure. So, I sure feel like they are changing some of what we see in this realm, although this was not specifically an offer.

I find that extremely weird. I just SOLD one, why would I want to BUY another?

eBay does not know why you are searching for something, just that you are searching for it, and, presumably, you are interested in it.
eBay does not have to guess right all the time to generate more sales on net than it costs to implement those suggestions.

·1 year agoI've unchecked and opted out of everything on my PC and the APP and still receive those offers.
About all that's left is logging out of your account while searching.

·1 year agoIf you are information gathering and doing product cost/value research, consider this more information.
If you truly want to know what product "A" is currently selling for, a seller offer contributes to this knowledge.
I honestly don't understand any problem here. What is the inconvenience?
The seller has absolutely zero way of knowing when an individual selects to view or "watch" an item what the intent is.
A. Window shopping
B. Wish List
C. Serious buyer
D. Serious future buyer
E. Competition price/product check
It is the seller in this case that is inconvenienced, if at all, as a sent offer disables their listing for 4 calendar days from any edits, changes, etc.
So please, everyone out there, if you get an offer and have no interest at all kindly set the seller free & decline the offer rather than letting the clock tick out for 96 hours to expiration.
Frankly, an offer from a seller would be exactly what I would want if I was doing product research.
It would show the "true price" an item might sell for.
By example, there are items on this site with multi-million dollar asking prices that are insane.
"Watching" that item might draw out a more earthly offer & as such relevant data as to the actual value of the item.
More data is better than less in this case.

·1 year agoThat's only accurate for viewing sold listings through Product Research. It does not hole true when viewing active listings through Product Research.

·1 year agoIt works for me. I have to put them into my watch list if I want to have a chance at getting an offer for an item I found through marketplace research.

Have discussed with eBay at seller events and they’re aware sellers want SIO to be disabled when listings are viewed through Product Research but they haven’t programmed that. Not sure if they will but I hope it’s coming this year.

·1 year agoHave you checked recently? Maybe they have snuck it in without an announcement.
I just started doing searches that way, and noticed that I wasn't getting offers except for things in my watchlist.

·1 year agoHi @lacemaker3 - I tested this today. I remembered @simply-the-best-for-you had a listing for a madras colorblock scarf. Stood out in my mind because madras is usually plaid.
I logged in to one of my buying accounts that never viewed any of her listings before and I used a different browser. I went through Product Research and searched for madras colorblock scarf and up popped her listing. I clicked on it from the Product Research tool and left the listing open for a couple min - then did the same a second time in case multiple views are required (sometimes they are, sometimes a single view will do it). I did not click on her listing from anywhere except the Product Research tool.
She just sent me a seller initiated offer for the scarf.

You probably receive offers because when viewing a listing, even sold items, you also click on the Sponsored item photos on the listing page. You can also find Sponsored listings on search results pages as well.
Seller's pay extra to have sponsored items get the extra visibility, and most offer auto discounts after enough people have viewed them. Since they pay extra to list Sponsored items, eBay is not going to let you turn off the notifications.
If you want them to stop, DO NOT open sponsored or promoted listings.

·1 year ago@mudshark61369 - I respect you and your advice which is very solid, but on this topic you are wrong. Sorry for being so blunt. Sponsored listings have zero, zilch, nada relation to seller initiated offers. Nothing at all to do with each other.
You're no more likely to get an offer from clicking a sponsored listing than a non-sponsored listing. Sellers that don't advertise can just as easily send seller initiated offers - and even automate them.

·1 year agoHi @flipsterista . Did you go to this page [communication preferences], edit Buying Activity, uncheck Offers to Buyers, then SAVE changes?
If you're on the app and have push notifications enabled, did you also disable offers there?

·1 year agoBefore searching, log out of eBay and then clear your cookies. If your not logged in, they don't know who you are and you won't get those offers. You will have to log back in to purchase.

OP1 year agoYes, I was mentioning in another comment I think I will keep an incognito window open along with my logged in page and do the searching in that. It's very aggravating, thse offers. If I was a buyer, they'd be great. But the inability to stop them is not acceptable. It reminds me of those annoying notifications in Offerup FOREVER after you search anything. "Stupid little figurine related items for you."
Unfortunately those offers don't have an off switch anymore. Just ignore the offers and move on.
Removing those items from your recently viewed might help.
