How do I get my refund?
I was not sent what I ordered and after some frustrating time dealing with the seller who was to pay shipping but gave me the run around I was finally helped by eBay to get a shipping label . The seller received the item back on July 6 . The seller has refused to give me a refund so I have had eBay call me and have been told I will for sure receive my refund within 24 to 48 hours . I have never in all
my years had any problem until now but am getting really frustrated not only with the seller but eBay also. I have been told more than once my refund will be made but still nothing . How do I get my refund? It seems getting them to call and explaining my problem only to be told my refund will be made is a waste of my time as well as the eBay employees .. I still have no refund and about to switch my buying to Amazon.

·3 years ago@gegen.us.iglrd3 You left feedback for them six months ago so by the time you actually filed a claim it would have been out of the 30 days for the money back guarantee and while you are able to open a request after 30 days ebay can no longer enforce the seller to do anything.
Depending on how you paid and the date of purchase you MAY be able to do a chargeback but you would have to see your payment sources guidelines.

OP3 years agoNot sure where you got your dates but order date was June 9th 2023… received June 15th… contacted seller June 16th.. they jacked me around and I filed tge claim… item was delivered to the seller . July6 th .. return window for eBay was July 20th .. I contacted seller and eBay and returned item in plenty of time .

OP3 years agoI failed to mention it took some time to get a shipping label. The seller was to pay shipping but refused to send what I needed and eBay finally provided the shipping label. I think where you are confused is the feedback says past 6 months .. that does not mean it has been 6 months just that was in last 6 months

·3 years agoThank you. This past Monday was the 17 th.
You returned it on time but then when the seller doesn't refund you only have 10 days to let eBay know the seller did not refund. If you don't let them know by 10 days they assume you were refunded and the case closes. They don't keep looking back to make sure the seller refunded. You have 10 days to let them know.
I think the rep was blowing smoke up your skirt because 24-48 hrs from Monday's conversation has passed with no refund, right? Maybe the rep doesn't know time frames had passed.
I think it's time for you to file a chargeback with your credit card.
fab_finds4u
·3 years agoYou never told the dates.
What was the date you finally talked to someone that told you that you would be refunded in 24-48 hrs?
This is important. If the seller doesn't refund by 2 days after getting it back you only have 10 days to get eBay to force the refund. That is why I am asking for dates. Reps tell you anything to get you off the phone. What date did you tell them the seller didn't refund? I hope it was before the 18th.
If the case has closed it's closed without a refund, or if a refund was made it goes back to the source, which takes a couple of days to a whole billing statement to show as a credit.

OP3 years agoAccording to eBay I was to have the item back by the 12th of July .. it was delivered to the seller on the 6 th .. I contacted eBay approximately a week or less after the seller received it back . It was this past Monday that I was told by eBay it would be refunded in that time line.

·3 years agoI would be quite frustrated as well - stick with Ebay and you should be able to get your refund - have you left feedback yet? If not refunded it must still be available for feedback.
Seller sent wrong item
Seller wouldn't issue return label (I thought this was automatic with an IND)
Seller wouldn't issue refund once tracking shows returned
Ebay won't step in to force refund

OP3 years agoIt has been a nightmare getting anything done. The seller has the item back plus my money now .. 100% profit .. really nice way to make a healthy profit and eBay is helping them do it ….. I was told by an employee on the phone they guaranteed I would have my refund within 24to48 hours. One place says a refund has been made and I should wait a few days for it to show but that’s been there for some time now . It also shows one place the case is closed but I have never closed it. I am 75 years old not computer literate and on limited income and the belt was to be for a grandson . I ordered from another seller and had no problem getting the belt he wanted. I have a big problem trying to navigate ebay to find where i need to be and trying to get my money back is proving not to be worth it with all the frustration.

·3 years agoUnless you opened a return case through the ebay web site or app, speaking to someone on the phone with ebay is not resolving your situation. You hopefully DID follow the rules every single one of us must follow to receive the refund. You were not singled out by ebay.
I would follow the previous advice given above if you truly want a refund. Just giving in ensures you are made a victim & that is not the way to live.

OP3 years agoI stated above I am not really computer literate but as far as I know I did what I was supposed to do .. eBay helped finally get the shipping label to send it back. I listed the tracking number where it said to list it and it shows it was delivered. The employee I spoke with was able to check and said it showed as delivered also. If eBay is not the ones to contact I don’t know what else I can do . I have contacted and it always tells me the automated can’t solve my problem and they will call me. They have called several times and agreed I should get a refund and more than one has said they could authorize the refund and I would be getting but it hasn’t happened.I know all this sounds easy to you younger people but it’s not for me. I have don’t what I think is what I am supposed to do .
gegen.us.iglrd3
OP3 years agoI did open a claim with eBay on the website after messaging the seller to send what I ordered, refund my money or should I open a claim. The seller told me to open a claim. I see why now … they have the item I sent back and my money .. very clever I guess

·3 years agoI am very sorry for your trouble. Below is the link to the eBay Money Back Guarantee. It outlines the steps you must take and when. My guess would be that you wasted time with the seller who may have been letting your buyer protection clock run out.
There is a timeline when each step must be taken. If you opened an Item Not As Described case, and you discovered it closed, i would bet my hat that your time to act expired. Buyers have 30 days from delivery to invoke the Money Back Guarantee. Once opened, there are days only for the seller to act. And the buyer.
Calling eBay when you have opened a case does not satisfy the steps you need to follow. Whatever they promised you on the phone was likely just expedient, and will not come to pass. If they did not advise you to stay within the case for all communication, then you were not being serviced properly.
Most everything to do with eBay is online. I can appreciate your lack of familiarity with such processes. Ebay has made the process as seamless as possible. Bad sellers need to be run out of the platform. But that requires the cooperation of the wronged buyer. I am afraid your buyer used your lack of familiarity with the processing of the MBG timeline against you. For that, i am very sorry.
At some point, review the link to see where you stand, at least, and what may have gone wrong. But i hope you paid with a credit card. Contact your credit card company and request a reversal of the charge based on the item not being described.
I wish you the very best. Good luck.

·3 years agoIn the same way that your grandson had to acquire some skills like tying shoelaces @gegen.us.iglrd3 perhaps convince yourself to open a Facebook account (just like you found a way to open this eBay account) for the single purpose of leaving a private message for eBay on Facebook?
gegen.us.iglrd3
OP3 years agoI could open a Facebook account but I don’t care to open one and feel that is something I shouldn’t have to do just to do business with eBay .. I bought the belt on eBay not Facebook .it doesn’t show because my account got switched up and changed some time back and only shows a short time I have been buying on eBay but truth is I have been buying on eBay since mid to late 90’s and have bought consistently and have no clue how many things I have bought but would make a guess would be in the hundreds of items and never had problems until now .

·3 years agoYou're using Facebook to contact eBay, just like you would first need to borrow or pay for a phone number before you can call eBay, not to share photos of the grandson, your secret recipes, or a joke. You asked
Everyone here can only help you get to the water.
In your 75 years @gegen.us.iglrd3 you've witnessed an enormous number of changes, and eBay is no exception, deciding to staff their most effective customer support team at Facebook, copycatting the utilities, medical services, government offices, and so on that also provide customer support at Facebook.

OP3 years agoI used the contact us on the eBay website. It states you can talk to an automated response on have an eBay employee call on the phone. I would assume an employee calling from eBay would be my best option to get a resolve on my problem. I was called and did talk to eBay employees on several
occasions about the matter and was told I would be refunded so I assumed them being employees and calling about my problem then giving me the information would be all I would need . I did not contact them every day so time went by same as with the promises from the seller . I saw the ask the community while trying to navigate the eBay site to find how the case was being handled. eBay should stop the employees from calling and making promises if that’s not the real intentions . I am not the one at fault here … I am the victim of not just the seller but also eBay for letting this happen to not only me but to others that get swept under rug after many years of being a loyal customer.
gegen.us.iglrd3
OP3 years agoI guess all in all it worked out finally. The right person some way took it for what it was and issued the refund….. thank you for that. I am still disappointed in the way it was handled and think there should be an easier way to get a resolve on things like this. I’m not sure where the eBay person came in contact with my problem but appreciate them very much … thanks to you in the community that replied with your help .

·3 years agoIf you have a return through a case and the seller doesn't refund by 2 days after receiving it back then you must contact eBay by 10 days.
Did you contact them before July 18 letting them know the seller didn't refund as required?
I have a feeling you didn't contact them before July 18 to complain the buyer didn't refund and you got a rep that doesn't know refund timeframes and they told you that you would be refunded 24-48 hrs to get you off the phone.

·3 years agoYou'll have to move past those calls @gegen.us.iglrd3 doing the following -- only one at a time and in this exact order:
First, leave a PRIVATE message here for eBay on Facebook, to say the item is returned but you don't have a refund.
Then if you paid with PayPal, start another return request here and upload a screenshot of your eBay case, then when you're told to return the item, provide that already-returned tracking number to get your refund.
Last file a chargeback with your card issuer, and provide your return tracking number to get your refund.

·3 years ago@rseuqinh,
There are some problems with the steps you posted for @gegen.us.iglrd3 , to follow.
"First, leave a PRIVATE message here for eBay on Facebook, to say the item is returned but you don't have a refund".
1) the link you provided to contact ebay on Facebook is not the right one. They also have a presence on Twitter that you did not mention (Links below)
When contacting ebay the seller's username and ebay item number have to be provided, a scan or copy of the return shipping label and/or the tracking number must be given, to show proof of delivery. The message needs to be signed with the buyer's real and ebay usernames.
https://www.facebook.com/eBayForBusiness
https://twitter.com/askebay
"Then if you paid with PayPal, start another return request here and upload a screenshot of your eBay case, then when you're told to return the item, provide that already-returned tracking number to get your refund... Last file a chargeback with your card issuer, and provide your return tracking number to get your refund".
2) If a claim is filed with PayPal before an ebay social media rep has a chance to reply, it will end the possibility of getting resolution from ebay. You only go to PayPal, AFTER all attempts to get resolution by appeal or going the social media route, has failed.
You would only contact a card provider, if both ebay and PayPal denied claims. However, if both of them did that, it would be because not enough proof to prove the claim was given. The card provider would probably do the same thing if no further proof is given to them.

OP3 years agoI don’t have Facebook or twitter or any of those social media things. I should not have to in order to get a refund that I have been told more than once by eBay employees that I will receive. I have decided that is the scam the seller pulls is to send something cheaper than you ordered with free return shipping but knowing it is such a hassle to get eBay to do anything they make a sale and make more money … I am at this time giving up and even though I know the sellers intentions is for me to do that I am done at this time with eBay. I am just one customer to eBay that won’t make a dent but they need to consider it took people like me to make them what they are . I am frustrated and will start shopping with Amazon .. the seller and eBay can keep the money and be proud they screwed one more person . Thank all if you for your reply’s .

·3 years agoDid you file the item not as described (IND) or was all this communication only through messaging?
gegen.us.iglrd3
OP3 years agoI messaged with the seller to start . The add said I was buying a belt but I only got a buckle and when I messaged the seller they said they had posted the wrong add .. after a few messages I told them I wanted what I ordered being a belt to go with the buckke, a refund or should I file a claim .. I was told to file a claim. I filed and was told by eBay I would get my refund after I sent back the buckle. The seller was to pay shipping but would not provide tge label and eBay dud step in and helped me. The buckle was shipped back and received july6 but the seller claims they can’t get refund to work for my refund. eBay has called Anna told me they promise I will have the refund but that has still not happened. I don’t really know how it was filed but do know eBay has promised the refund but has done nothing. I am very frustrated with them at this time . It should not be so hard to get help from eBay
