How could I know if a past auction has the "Buy-it-Now" button in the beginning or not?
We know that for some objects listed on Ebay to sell in an auction, they have the "Buy-it-Now" button. Bidders for such objects can press the "Buy-it-Now" button during the auction, once someone pressed the button will disappear. When I look at the auction page after it ended, how could I tell if it started with the "Buy-it-Now" button or not? Is there a way to find this info for any auction that already ended? Thank you very much!

You may be able to make an educated guess based on the proportion of the seller's current auction listings that have no bids and that also have a buy-it-now option appearing.

Other than contacting the seller and asking if they had Buy It Now (BIN) on the auction, there is no way to tell if it had the feature. If there was a BIN price on the auction, it had to be a minimum of 40% more than the starting bid price.
Most experienced auction format sellers do not use the BIN feature, because that price can cause bidders to think the seller will cancel the transaction, if the BIN price is not met.

Also, as this thread has pointed out, once the bidding begins, potential buyers seeing the auction for the first time after it has received a bid will not know that it ever had a BIN option.

·2 years agoOther than asking the seller, there is no way to tell. eBay used to display "The Buy It Now is no longer available because bidding has begun" on the Bid History Page (don't remember whether it stayed up after the auction was over) but that was discarded in a reformat years ago. Now it just disappears with no trace once a bid is placed (except in the 4 Sticky BIN categories if the current bid is less than 50% of the BIN price or if there is a "Reserve not met").
