Hong Kong sellers continually ask buyer to cancel transactions
Summary: mizcreole shared experiences with two problematic transactions involving designer handbags from sellers, each time being asked by the seller to cancel the order due to issues like damaged or altered items. gone.c-33 explained that sellers request cancellations to avoid penalties on their accounts and suggested refusing to cancel. kensgiftshop advised allowing the sellers to cancel or waiting to file a claim if the item isn't received. msha3839 raised concerns about the authenticity of items purchased from Hong Kong, while janet9988 suggested simply filing a claim without contacting the seller.
Hi,
On 2 separate occasions, I have purchased a designer handbag from (what I am assuming are 2 different sellers). The first purchase, the seller took a long time to ship, so I contacted them and was told my item was on a truck that skidded off the road in the rain and burst into flames! My item burned in the fire. The seller asked me to cancel the transaction, I asked why they couldn't do it, but never got a response! I contacted eBay and the agent assured me that if I cancel, it would not 'count against me', so I canceled the order.
Last week I purchased another designer bag from a Hong Kong seller. Again, the bag didn't ship (no tracking info), so I contacted them. This time I was told that upon inspection, the bag had been altered, so they could not sell it! This bag was up for auction for several weeks, so I find it hard to believe that all of a sudden they learned it had been altered. Yet again, the seller asked me to cancel the transaction! I don't want to because it will look as if I am the problem, buying things I can't afford, etc., when it is the sellers.
I cannot speak to a live agent and the auto system cannot help with my request.
What should I do???
I appreciate any insight.

·2 weeks agoInteresting that you worry buying so called designer bags from Hong Kong and worry about someone would think that you can’t afford it..most likely items are fake and real buyers with money, buy from Newman Markus, Saks 5th avenue, Tiffany..looks like out of your league…

·2 weeks agoNo, don't ask to cancel the orders.
If the order needs canceled, the seller needs to cancel as out of stock.
If you ask to cancel the order, it keeps the seller from getting spanked from Ebay.
If they don't cancel, just wait until after the EDD and file an INR for a refund.

·2 weeks agoFirst, no one will think you buy things you can’t afford, no one except you and the seller knows you requested to cancel, it truly has no negative impact on your account.
Now the reason the sellers are asking you to cancel is to prevent THEM from getting a bad mark on their account: seller initiated cancellations gets them a ding while buyer initiated ones do not.
You can refuse to cancel, in which case either the seller will or they will never ship and you will have to file an item not received after the last estimated delivery date.
