Help with Return - Put Two Items from buyer in the same box
Summary: private5230 is seeking advice on handling a return where two items from a buyer need to be put in the same box. Various participants, including stainlessenginecovers, kickin.assets, and kathiec, engage in the conversation, but no specific details are shared about their suggestions or solutions. The discussion remains focused on addressing the logistical aspect of consolidating the items for return.
Hi all - I recently returned two items to the same seller. They were purchased separately, however when I returned them I only used one of the labels which was for one of the items but I included the 2nd item along with the return details print out in the same box.
I did receive a refund for the 1st item that the label was for - but now I am worried that the buyer will not refund the 2nd since it was returned without the Ebay label for that item. Unfortunately I have no way to prove I packaged them both in the same box.
I wonder if I should now print the 2nd label and send it on an envelope with the return details and a note of explanation - but the seller will then be able to say I didn't return it - just a note?
Any ideas on how to take care of this?
BTW - the seller left two nasty comments for me on my feedback page, apparently he is angry that I dared to return the items and yet he offers 30 day returns? The seller has over 80k feedbacks - very unprofessional behavior indicating that I am "one of them that returns everything I buy on ebay..." Considering I spend $1000's of dollars a year on ebay and have been a member for over 20 years with 2172 positive feedbacks as both a buyer and a seller.

OP4 months ago@mudshark - it is not the content of notes that bother me per se, its the fact that the seller, obviously a long-time Ebay member, chose to impugn my integrity because he is unhappy that I returned the items and seemed to indicate that I am "one of them" of which I have no idea what he is referring to and that all sellers should now block me. I also made sure to list "Ordered by mistake" so that it would not reflect negatively on him. I simply did not like the item's functionality. As a seller myself I know it's tough to take returns - but its all part of the business and having a happy customer. The ironic thing is that I may very well have bought other items from him in the future. I don't like getting into spats with buyers or sellers - I don't "retaliate" as I think its not worth my time and effort.

Negative comments written as a reply to a feedback, will not be removed. As a buyer you can reply to their reply, and have the last word. Doing what they did only hurts them as a seller.
If or when people check your profile they are not likely to check all of the positives.
A seller would be more interested in the feedback you have left for others.
A buyer would be looking for any non positive feedback you may have received.

@private5230
You have received good replies! Since you were obviously trying to save the seller some cash, don't forget the oldest reply, "No good deed goes unpunished." 😉 Godspeed.

You're correct that, since you were issued two return labels, you'll only be refunded for one item. You should use the other return label on an envelope containing an explanation of what happened. Yes, the seller will likely raise a stink over it, but since you have no proof you sent both items in one box it's honestly your only option at this point.
As for the negative remarks, I'm also not sure whether negative remarks in a follow-up message violate eBay policy. You can contact customer service and report it, but it's possible they won't remove it.

Had a similar situation once.
Print the other label, stick it on an empty package, send.
Once package is delivered, the seller will have only a couple days to refund and if seller doesn’t, eBay will step in and refund you.
Do not feel like you need to reach out to this seller or answer any messages from them.
Done and done.
If you have any other questions or issues, come back to these boards FIRST!

·4 months agoYou could
a.) try contacting seller
b.) do the 'envelope' thing you are talking about.
Some sellers qualify for 'up to 50% deduction' for items returned in 'less than condition' which would mean this seller could Possibly pull that (although they shouldn't but....).
Lastly, you can report that seller as sellers are NOT allowed to leave 'neg remarks in a positive feedback' and since all sellers can do is leave positives, that's what it obviously is.
update: possibly (my last sentence) as the feedback was fine, it was the follow up so not sure you can report.
Probably can still report, but also you get the last word so you can also give a follow up and I would state (very unprofessional, the items are shown as accepting returns and I returned it because (give reason?).
Since the seller is a 'hat' then I would do the 'envelope' thing but don't hold your breath.
