·1 year agoThis is a several year old gift card scam that gets publicity when during the Christmas season. Since few people watch their local news on tv any more, there are always people who are just hearing about it. Ebay gift cards and Target gift cards are frequent targets.
It has been featured on websites like the AARP site as well.

·1 year agoNo you did not. A scammer copied down the number on that card. They replaced the scratch off strip and placed the card back on the display. They then wait for it to be sold and activated. They can then spend it as they have the number. Those missing digits are so you can't spend it before they do.
The card is already been spent. You can try to go back to where you purchased it and see what they will do. Sorry to say it's often nothing.
NEVER buy gift cards.

I had not heard of this before.
This must be why I've seen several posts about the last 2 digits missing.
Thanks for sharing this. I'll bank this helpful info for the future.

·1 year agoIt's running neck and neck with the fake tracking number scam. What ever happened to the good old scams? Like a black money / wash wash scam.

·1 year agoI don't know what's going on with this gift card thing but..
This isn't the first time I've read this exact claim.
