Has eBay made changes to the offers to watchers system within the last week?
This is bizarre and I HATE it:
In the last week I've started getting offers from sellers, *NOT* for items in my watchlist, but also for listings that I simply browsed to at one point.
I do NOT want offers sent to me on random listings simply because I viewed them at one point, especially since eBay makes it such a PITA to remove those offers from your summary page (you cannot delete the listings until you go to the item listings page and go through the multistep process of actively declining the offer; only then can you delete it from your summary page).
Sending me offers for items in my watched list is fair game. Sending me offers for other stuff is not.

·2 years agoI thought sellers could "opt out" of sending automatic offers of any kind whether watchers or browsers. I know I have opted out of automatically sending offers. Is this not still the case?

·2 years agoMaybe so, but OP is asking as a buyer not seller so that is what is being talked about, from the buyers side.

·2 years agoThey can.
Some don't know that Ebay has activated it on their listings, so some don't know Ebay is sending out the offers.

·2 years agoeBay has been sending offers on things you have just looked at for a long time, so is not something new. Think how it works is if seller sends offers to people that have it on their watch list it automatically goes to people that have opened the listing and looked at that item also.
Maybe it acts like two different systems; sort of like if an item not received case is opened, even if the tracking number has been downloaded in the shipping window, you still have to still reenter it in the case.
So, blocking receiving offers, just looking at something gets around that block.

It is eBay's doing as sellers have no idea who they are sending offers to at all. Allowing offers to be sent to people that merely viewed the item has been going on for quite a few months. You can select NOT to receive offers, but that will mean ALL offers, even the ones for which you may be interested will not be sent to you.

OP2 years agoWas this policy change announced anywhere? Prior to this week I have only ever received offers for items on my watch list.

·2 years agoThat doesn't seem to work very good.
I opted out of receiving all offers, but still receive the ones for just looking at a listing.
