Greedy Seller: [Removed by moderator]
I purchased UGG Australia Classic Tall boots from this seller on eBay for close to $200. After 85 days the soles of both boots were coming off and I contacted the seller immediately. I did not receive a response and they blocked me for a while, so I was unable to follow up with them. I have had to file a claim through eBay and now PayPal is looking into recovering funds for me.
Today the seller was magically available and their line was they don't take returns after 30 days. They are on repeat about this even with a defective item. Then they said I should take the $200 boots to a shoe repair to have them re-glued at my expense or contact UGG boots.
I find this unsatisfactory care by a seller. They were fine with taking my money. Do you find them greedy as well?

What is the chargeback policy of the credit card you paid with?
-- Never buy online with anything but a credit card. There are no refunds with debit cards, e-transfers, cheques, or cash.
--Most credit cards allow 120 days from PURCHASE. Some allow 180 days from purchase.

·6 months agoNope I don't find them greedy. You have 30 day money back guarantee on eBay. After that and seller doesn't have to do anything and eBay backs them up

·6 months agoThere was a similar thread here recently about someone who bought a battery that died after the 30-day money back guarantee had expired.
And my question to them is the same question I ask you:
How long do you think ebay should guarantee items for? 60 days? 90 days? A year?
Then what happens when someone has their shoes break or their battery fail just after that deadline, do they extend it again?
At some point a decision was made by ebay that 30 days was long enough to guarantee items purchased here, so that's what we are all working with when we shop here. If someone is looking for a longer warranty, they would be better off buying directly from the manufacturer that offers a longer warranty.

·6 months agoHow much did you use the boots and under what conditions? There's a difference between expected wear and tear for a weekend-only user and one who plans to trek across the country wearing them all day long.
I don't know if warranties or guarantees can be part of an eBay sale. Best bet would be to contact the manufacturer or an authorized outlet to see if they can help.

·6 months agoBuying anything that you cant touch, feel, or inspect on line has risks. Knowing this, and knowing eBay return policy, buyers need to really look over their purchases at the time they receive them to make sure they received what they paid for.
What method would you expect eBay to put into practice to know something like this would happen to properly verify sellers, other than the feedback? Sellers who provide too much BBE do get suspended, but no one knows that until they start selling.
It's an unfortunate situation but risks are involved when buying used items online. The situation would be the same if you had bought UGG boots from a dealer and they fell apart 1 day after the year warranty expired. On eBay you only get 30 days.
Best option now is to continue the claim with your payment source, and look over the listing clearly to see if you were misled about age, wear, or anything like that. Tough to know, since you didn't see anything alarming at the time of receiving, not sure the seller would be at fault if they didn't know the life span of the glue either.

OP6 months agoI contacted UGG boots for their 1 year warranty. It turns out these boots have been in storage for 16 years. I assume this is why the soles are coming off, they are degrading. Yes. Greedy seller and i am unhappy with eBay for not thoroughly vetting this seller.

·6 months agoThe real problem here is you, @2014_mohon, purchased used boots.
You should have checked with UGG before purchasing.
It is up to the buyer to vet the seller before purchase. End of story there.
Same as on any other venue including AMZ. Expect a 30-day return window everywhere unless you buy new, from an authorized distributor.
AMZ does extend their return window before the Christmas Holidays. The rest of the year, like now, it is 30 days.

·6 months agoThere is absolutely no indication this was fraud. You have no evidence that the seller was the one who stored the boots for 16 years. In fact, you have absolutely zero idea of when and under what circumstances the seller acquired them. You bought used boots on eBay. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

·6 months agoThat's a problem with old shoes, even if they appear to be like new. They can get dry rot and although they appear (at first) to be perfect, the rubber soles break down and disintegrate.
A good test when shoes have been around a while is to bend and fold them in half to see how the sole holds up.

·6 months agoWell, isn’t your responsibility to ask seller about age of the shoes and do your homework prior to spending $200 on something? Pure example of bad dancer blaming uneven floor for bad performance..time to push common sense button…🤧

·6 months agoIt doesn't really matter if anyone thinks the seller is greedy or not. You're way past any eBay refund.
If it were me I'd get some "Shoe Goo" (Good stuff) and save the money having a shoe repair use the same stuff. It is stinky though but works really well. Sometimes available at Wally World or online. I got mine online and use it for various purposes............................

·6 months agoShoe Goo is good, especially if there's a lot of wear, but for the OP's case I'd go with E6000. It has a stronger bond and it's longer-lasting.
E6000 is very affordable @2014_mohon and will buy you a lot more life for those boots.

You get 30 days on ebay, no more. Same as Amazon.

·6 months agoWhen you purchase used shoes/boots there is always risk involved. The seller is not responsible when it is past the 30 days. Not greedy at all in my book

·6 months agoThere is nothing greedy about it. eBay offers a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee. Sellers are not obligated to assist after that timeframe.
