Giftcard issue
I have been trying to speak with Ebay for the past 6 days. I spoke with Mirra in San Antonio Texas who hung up with me as well as Ana Margarita, Trixia, and others. I am trying to just use my gift card. I am being stolen from, no one will listen to me or care to deal with my issue. I am sad.... Hours of my life have been lost. Happy Easter to everyone. I have been forced to correspond with the Attorney Gerneral's Offices of Maine and California, (Rob Bonta 800-952-5225) and with the FBI for cyber fraud and scams

OP1 year agoSo I have an update to this ongoing issue. I spoke with Ebay last evening. I was finally able to be transferred to the gift card department and then onwards to IT support. There is a reported bug affecting some gift cards. They were saying that in some cases the system is not permitting for a gift card to be applied to cover a percentage of the balance and then for another payment to be used to cover the remaining of the balance. They expect to have this resolved by June 9th, 2025. I guess until then, don't use gift cards if you intend to make a purchase for greater than the gift card's value.
As for how I am getting a hold of ebay. I am going through the help page, and speaking to the automated chat and requesting a call back from an agent since there isn't a phone number for ebay.

From looking at your feedback profile it looks like you bought and tried to use the gift card before you registered this account. You cannot use an ebay gift card if you tried to buy as a guest. The link below should explain why you might not have been able to use your gift card. There is also a Contact Us button on that page you can use to contact ebay about your card.

Gift cards usually take 4 hours or so for them to register with ebay. Depending on the time of day you made the card purchase, the store you bought from may not have sent their transactions in until the next day. If you bought your gift card on a weekend day, your payment for it may not have been transferred from your bank until Monday some time.

There is no direct customer service phone number for ebay. They shut down those numbers several years ago, so if you looked up a customer service phone number online and called it, you did not speak to anyone connected with ebay. Some of those numbers belong to scammers, and if you gave them personal, financial, or the gift card number and its PIN your card balance may have been stolen by them.

Have you contacted the store that sold you the gift card?

If you have a gift card that isn't working properly, you need to go back to the store from which it was purchased, show them the card and receipt and you might be able to get help from them. Ebay can't help with a card that was bought elsewhere.
