Getting emails about items ive never looked at - concerned.
A couple of days ago I recieved an email from Ebay about some £300 Coldplay tickets that were ending soon...but I never even looked at them. Today I get an "this item is ending soon" for a £450 tractor. I'm concerned someone is looking at these but nothing is showing on my account. Is this an Ebay error or should I be worried someone is trying to buy things on my account somehow? I've changed my password, turned on 2FA.

·3 years agoThe same thing has been happening to me also. Over the last 8 days I've received 3 emails for "recently viewed" or "item no longer available" for items that I've not only never viewed or searched for, but these items were in categories that I've never searched for. I called ebay and the rep said they've been getting a lot of these calls in the last few days. They told me the emails from the return address (ebay@ebay.com) were not legitimate and to forward the message to spoof@ebay.com.

·3 years agoYou didn't call eBay @baronremco -- it was a scammer.
And that's a legit email address, but any email message can spoof any email address: As an example, you might get physical junk mail that claims 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is its return address.

·3 years agoNo, my call from ebay was legitimate as I had to go through the Help & Contact section on ebay.com and requested a phone call.

·3 years agoYou are on the ebay USA boards and not the UK. I can tell you that if I look at an ad for shoes, eventually, I will see ads for shoes in my emails and also on my facebook page. I just ignore them. Right now , I am searching car dealerships ads for find a good deal for my kid. Well, my opening page on this desktop shows ads for Chevrolet, Carvana and Vroom. My searches are being sold to other companies . My guess Microsoft. If I go on Facebook later, I know that I will see some car ad.
So I would not worry too much. I am sure that is what is happening to you. Did you look cds or music posters recently anywhere? Tractor, even looking at a toy tractor, might get you an ad for a real tractor.

·3 years agoWhen I read posts here (in the community), I'll look at sellers' listings to see what they're posting about. Even if I don't open listings and even if items aren't in categories I am interested in, I get similar messages from ebay. I wouldn't worry about it.

·3 years agoIf someone has installed malware they'll get your new passwords so you need to make sure that's not happening. Run virus scans and do housekeeping on your computor and change your passwords afterwards.

·3 years agoRunning checks? Malware is clever and can avoid detection. When you hit keystrokes on your tablet the keystrokes can be followed undected and sometimes does no good to change passwords only. You might have to uninstall and reinstall your OS.
