Getting a refund for a higher amount than I paid?
I ordered an item on ebay from a different country and I paid €278,99 (259 for the product and 19.99) for shipping. The item arrived damaged so I initiated a return through ebay which was accepted by the seller. They said they can't generate a return label on their end for a return from a different country and they asked me to ship it back myself which I did.
They said they would cover the return shipping, but they can't refund more than what I paid through ebay so they will do it via paypal. Should I ask them to refund the max amount via ebay and the rest through paypal? Am I just opening myself up to trouble if they refund me through paypal for the full amount? They have a high review score and thousands of reviews, but this is not an insignificant amount for me so I just want to be prepared.

·2 years agoThey'll have to do the regular refund through the Ebay case.
If they will pay you back for the return shipping, it'll have to be outside of Ebay.
In the future, always get the return shipping up front.
A lot of sellers say they will pay you back, but they won't.
