General buying, and are you going to get what you bought?
Don't know if it's just in the automotive field that's usually where I shop, but it seems that more and more crafty, dirty, and product changing sellers are slipping through the system. Within the past 6 months I have had several sellers change what they sold me, change what was sent to me by quantity, or part, or by manufacturer and fight to say they were in the good! Also the listings they had that were completely unmatched by description or product that I reported to eBay were never taken down or corrected, nor was the seller reprimanded for what was done. Bad feedbacks were left, but they were cleared. Another showing a complete case of oil filters, with the title saying "oil filters" the only thing in description was a chart of fitment for them, no quantity. I was sent "1", it didn't even match part number, he was cleared, eBay drug it out for 3 weeks. I got a partial refund. He should have been kicked out for fraud. Welding wire, showing 2 boxes, title "welding wire", decription just a info on wire manufacture, no quantity. One shows up, it was fought for 3 weeks, because it was fought for 3 weeks return ran out and they sided with him, another that should have been kicked out for fraud or refund. Bad feedback was left, they cleared it! So why are frauders left to walk free? Been here 24 years, I was once shut down for 2 weeks because of a guy that didn't get his farm tractor seat pan cover fast enough! So why not the same standards???? And sense the huge wave of eastern sellers, the communication gap sometimes causes flaws in decription or loopholes in description. So that's always a issue, along with them always changing the delivery date after sale, just to get the sale, to fit the needs of getting it from overseas to here and hiding the fact that they are with cover story's in tracking like it's setting at a "USPS partner facility" well there isn't anything like that. There are shipping centers that does somethings like that but it's always out the same day, not 5-7 days. But the dirty sellers are making harder and harder to make a easy purchase without a fight. On my last cart purchase I have 1 fight, because the seller lied about what item they were selling and gave a different part number of a item that wasn't even close to what I thought I was buying, and cart before that, same! Counterfeit knock off parts! It has to stop!

First off, it is much easier to read and respond to a post if you use paragraph breaks, rather than one long missive with several different issues.
If there is an issue with a seller and you message them, if their reply is not helpful, simply file the proper dispute They Have to deal with it in the proper way within a specified time (usually 3 days) or get a defect on their account. Read the terms and time frames of the Money Back Guarantee.
You also do not seem to check seller's feedback profile pages. You have bought from seller's whose feedback percentage alone would have had me clicking on the back button. On a profile page if you see a seller is registered in China, do not buy auto parts from them. If a seller has less than a 98.6% rating, don't buy from them, and even if they have a higher one check the profile page and click on the numbers of neutral and negative feedback, to read only those comments. If you see repeated comments about fitment, quality, incomplete orders, late delivery... etc. back out.
Any seller that has US or USA in their username is foreign based, that same with those that have U.S. flag symbols and mentions of being a U.S. seller in their listings. There is one who has the name of the motor city in their username. They get all of their parts from China. They do have a B&M store and warehouse here, but no mechanic worth their salt locally, buys from them.
Your negative feedback may have been removed if you received a refund, or lost a dispute. That does not necessarily mean that the seller did not get a defect on their account. Mentioning having to file a dispute or asking ebay to step in in any way, in a feedback comment qualifies it for removal Often the non positive feedback that are posted were from buyers who did not file disputes, which is why they stuck.
Reporting a seller's listing, using the Report Item button, usually will not get any action taken. It takes more than one individual buyer reporting the same listing, before ebay will remove it, or sanction a seller, unless there is an obvious policy violation in the listing.
Like mtgraves, I do not buy parts on here either, after several disappointments. I'd rather support my local parts stores, where I can return things if there's an issue.

·2 years agoEbay already has a policy in place for this. If your item isn't described correctly file a return within 30 days. There is no need to rant about these sellers or call them "dirty sellers." Yes you will find sellers who ship stuff not described. They will pay in the long run for this behavior. If Ebay removes there feedback let Ebay deal with the behavior then. Just you personally don't deal with those sellers anymore if they give you trouble. You have more sellers who put time and effort into making the transaction smooth as possible and just a smaller amount who don't. They either don't last or lose business.

@oldjunkrus
I fear I won't, so I don't buy automotive parts here. But that's just me...

·2 years agoHow can you have been here 24 years (with another ID? this one has only been here 14) and not know how to use the Money Back Guarantee? If an item is not as described you go to it in your purchase history, click Return, then select item was not as described as the reason. EBay then gives the seller three business days to send you a return label (or send funds to return if they're an international seller). If they don't, go back on day four and ask eBay to step in. At that point they'll either send you a label or refund in full without requiring a return.
It should also be noted that MBG cases are the biggest thing that counts against a seller's metrics and can get them booted. So if you aren't opening cases you're not helping the problem.
