FRAUD
I made a purchase on e Bay on 10/17/2025, this purchase was made and the seller confirmed receipt of payment on the 17th, the terms clearly stated that shipping would take 2 to 3 days . so I waited until the 4 day
and contacted eBay , they had me provide the information but only after jerking me around for hours with , the sites not working, something went wrong , and a whole host of other delays meant to discourage , with this, I resigned to waiting until the 27th which was the date given by the seller after contacting eBay. while I waited I received a TEXT from FED ex on 10/24/2025 telling me my item has arrived and was delivered . the package was NOT delivered to me at all , the Item Originated from Kohl's and had nothing to do with my purchase , remember now the seller provided me with this Tracking number , that has absolutely nothing to do with the item I purchased, making matter worse I took the time to send a complaint to e Bay and Imagine my surprise when I clicked on SUBMIT and got this: OPPS something went wrong Try Later , well its been 2 hours now and I'm still getting that same reply , so I came here to advise those looking to purchase from eBay, you had better have a back up plan and be prepared to endure this same **bleep** , it is truly despicable that e Bay ignored my request to Cancel on the 22nd only to have this crap develop over the next two days , the seller provided my the tracking number , the shipping cost me 93.15 from Illinois assuming he not lying about that , and the us postal service puts the rates for this package at 20 to 35 dollars given the package weighs 15.03 lbs and is charged as if it weighs 17 lbs so why am I being charged for OVER NITE delivery when I have been waiting since the 22nd of 2025 . and e Bay says Not one word even after I told them about it, it is without a Doubt FRAUD . so those wanting to continue here be aware the scams are being backed by ebay

·10 months agoFirst, clean up your computer's cookies and cache for eBay's page....this is what is giving you all the "try again later" messages....and then file an item not as described to receive a return label. No need to call anyone at customer service

·10 months agoYou need to do an item not as described...seller has to send a return shipping label.
And send back something...'the item originated from Kohl's'.
Whatever customer service reps say on the phone...just ignore and open an eBay claim.
'us postal service' but it was a 'Text from Fed ex' were two different shipping options.
Story is a bit confusing...

OP10 months agothe Item was alleged to have been shipped from Illinois to NY , and I do understand your view , however I did contact Fed Ex to verify the tracking numbers Origin and destination , it originated at Kohl's dept store , a clothing outlet that does not sell auto parts , and I did contact eBay multiple times the first time they also contacted the seller who only then on the 22nd issued this bogus tracking number . I was waiting on its delivery this morning when Fed Ex texted me the package arrived !! I went out to get it and found nothing, the pic they took of the delivery is NOT my address either . I went to great lengths to verify Fed Ex and gave eBay many opportunities to resolve this, they sided with the seller based on his claim of issuance of a tracking number , that has Proven to be FALSE by Fed EX who the seller used to make the claim it was shipped . imagine your at Mc Donald's and you go thru the drive thru, and order dinner or lunch and after you pay your told they will deliver in 10 days , its the same thing, this product and its shipping cost should have been on my doorstep the following morning after it was fully paid for , it was not. I even waited 4 days before contacting e Bay and the seller, who only then issued a tracking number otherwise id be standing here waiting for nothing, Maybe your ok with this **bleep**, I am NOT

Without paragraph breaks it is hard to keep track of your issues. We might be able to work our way through the info if you post the ebay item number which can be found just under the Item title in your Order details, it is 12 digits long without any hyphens. Once we see the listing for ourselves we can give you better suggestions on how to proceed.
How did you contact ebay? Did you look up a number on line, or use ebay's Chat system?
If the purchase you made was from the last seller who left you feedback (Click on your feedback number above to view your profile Change the sort order from Most Relevent to Most Recent).
That seller's estimated delivery dates are 3-7 days from the purchase date. Those dates are estimated by ebay based on the seller's usual delivery time frames. Not what the various shipping agencies give as their time frames.
They have a handling time that states "Will usually ship within 3 days of receiving cleared payment".
"e Bay ignored my request to Cancel on the 22nd"
If the seller had already uploaded a tracking number, you Cannot cancel the transaction. Even if you tried to cancel within an hour of making the purchase, the seller would have to agree, and they are not required to do that. You waited 5 days to try and cancel.
"I received a TEXT from FED ex on 10/24/2025 telling me my item has arrived and was delivered . the package was NOT delivered to me at all , the Item Originated from Kohl's and had nothing to do with my purchase".
On the listing page where did it say the item was located City, State? If the tracking did not originate from the location given by the seller. Kohls in (City, State) You could open a dispute for Item not as described, since it did not come from the stated item location. If the shipping method given on the listing page was not FedEx that too qualifies as a not as described reason. You can open a new dispute for not as described.
You say you are getting messages saying, The site's not working or Something went wrong. That may be happening if you have not recently cleared your device's temporary internet files and cookie cache. You should try doing that now, then restart it.

·10 months agoSorry--not able to read that wall of text; however, you mention warning buyers to have a backup plan.
My backup plan is the eBay Money Back Guarantee for buyers. I hope you've read it.
And, if tracking indicated that my package was delivered, but not to me, I'd be finding out from the carrier exactly what happened, get it in writing and then present that information to eBay in support of my claim.
And what was the EDD seen in the listing.? You should have been given an actual estimated date, not just the vague 2-3 days.
BTW, your request to cancel should have been made directly to your seller, not to eBay, and you probably should keep in mind that there's no eBay requirement that the seller agree to your request.

OP10 months agoI did all the above , as you stated , its was not relevant to the particulars of the sale , all of this occurred after waiting 4 days with NO response from the seller , and e Bay after I did contact them made contact with the seller who only then claimed to have a tracking number that I found out this morning was FALSE and confirmed directly thru the shipper

·10 months agoContacting eBay was the problem. No need to. Everything is automated.
If a package was delivered to another address don't file an "Item Not Received" case, you will lose because tracking shows delivered.
You need to go to Purchase History under My eBay. Find the item and on the right you'll see a dropdown menu "More Actions". You will find an option to for a refund in there somewhere.. Again avoid "Item Not Received" as the reason.
It was described that you would receive an item and you didn't. So it seems the "Item Not As Described" option fits as receiving nothing isn't what was described in the listing.
There's a longer more complicated process and some say it's not playing by the rules doing it the way I describe. Do you feel obligated to "play by the rules" when the seller didn't?
If you do, someone will probably come along and describe the hoops to jump through to do it "The right way"...............

When you are a victim of the "fake tracking scam" you do have some choices of redress. The following is a copy/paste from another post but you will get the idea. What is known for certain is that if you claim "Item not received" (INR) with eBay, it is all automated, and you will lose. The Money Back Guarantee is going to be a giant FAIL since there is a recorded 'delivery' associated with your order, even if it is fake. Please read the following a through d, and come back if you have any questions:
You are an apparent victim of the infamous "fake tracking scam". The crooks know how to play this so well it has been going on for over a decade. It is quite successful, and eBay knows all about it. Unfortunately, they don't provide any information in their policies, and if a victim files an "Item not received" claim (because they didn't receive anything) they are going to lose. They lose even if the "delivered" status is fake and was for a package of paperclips delivered to your local tavern or gas station in your Zip Code (the worst case is they send it to an empty lot, and it ends up being returned). The Money Back Guarantee is going to be a FAIL.
There are basically just a few ways you can gain redress.
a) As suggested above, just file an "item not as described" return/claim. "Missing parts or pieces" is a pretty good reason. The "seller" will have three days to issue you a return label, or send you cash in advance (via PayPal) to pay for the return, or simply refund. Never accept a "replacement", as you see it just makes this sort of problem worse. If you get a label, simply ship back what you got i.e. a package of AIR.
Though not always a preferred solution, it is still quick and effective. It simply serves to beat the crook and the eBay denial bots at their own game.
b) Give up on the idea of "Item not Received" altogether in favor of what this really is....FRAUD/Fake Tracking Scam/Shipped to wrong address. Though mentioned above, eBay USED to require written documentation from the carrier stating the parcel was not intended nor delivered to you. It was "required" because that was impossible to obtain, leaving both eBay and the seller "off the hook" for this crime.
Things have changed a bit in the last few years, and that requirement may not be required at all. In cases where the seller had already been reported for this crime, or they are no longer a registered user, you may not be required to jump through as many hoops as in the past. I would pay a visit to my local post master (or contact a carrier if UPS/FedEx etc was used) in person with record of your tracking information and explain you wish some assistance with FRAUD fake tracking scenario, and see what you can get as far as documentation. Then contact eBay via one of the following links. These are their social media portals that connect you with eBay customer service employees based in the US. They know all about this, and unlike the regular CS you get in a call back or chat, typically don't lie to you, and do have the authority to help you with this problem.
https://www.facebook.com/eBay/ (use the blue message button)
OR direct message through one of these:
https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/
OR
https://x.com/askebay
Tell them you need assistance with a fake tracking issue, and see what they say to do to proceed.
c) If eBay throws you under the bus, and you paid with PayPal, you can file a claim there. Do NOT be in a hurry and pick "Item not Received". Look farther down in the dropdown and choose "shipped to wrong address". Otherwise, the claim will be forwarded to eBay who will respond with the same phony delivery information and you will lose again. Note that you should NOT file with PayPal or your credit card company until you are done with eBay. Otherwise, eBay will simply close your case and no longer be required to help you.
d) File a chargeback with your credit card. Again, DO NOT CLAIM "INR" but be clear it is a case of FRAUD/fake tracking. This should be done basically as a 'last resort'. Never enact all the options at the same time.
Do come back if you need additional inforn, and/or to tell us how it worked out for you.
