Finding the date the item was first listed?
Summary: winp02 suspects a seller is trying to cancel an order by claiming the product is "not in stock" and inquires about verifying the item's original listing date. roastedsaurus explains that buyers cannot access such information and suggests that sellers canceling orders can do so for various reasons, including inability or unwillingness to ship. They advise reporting the seller, especially if the cancellation reason is falsely marked as "Buyer requested." Repeated "out of stock" cancellations can negatively impact the seller's account.
I have a seller who is claiming an item has been listed for several months and needed to be removed because the product is "not in stock"
But I believe this is a fairly newly listed item that was marked much lower than comps and they are realizing I got a deal and are trying to cancel the order. How can I confirm when the item was first listed to ebay.
I see there is "last changes made" under the description but didn't know if that was the upload date or a date they changed something in description.

·1 week agoThere is no way a buyer can see that info that I'm aware of, and even if you knew that it wouldn't help anything anyway.
"Not in stock" from a seller can mean several things, they broke it, can't find it, etc. as well as they made a mistake and don't want to ship it.
The Seller can cancel the order and there is nothing you can do about that. You CAN then report them. Especially if they use the cancellation reason "Buyer requested", in which case they are lying and using the incorrect reason needs to be part of reporting them.
When a seller cancels for "out of stock" they get a ding against their account. Too many dings and they are kicked off the site.

OP1 week agoThanks I appreciate that, I was able to see under the original listing that the item had been revised in Aug, but it looks like it was listed and revised several times before that last post. Just not good to keep relisting an item that you're unsure of its location.
