Feedback turning into product review???
I notice that about 50% of the time, when I go to leave feedback on the seller I bought from, it is a product review, not feedback on the seller. Has anyone else noticed this? I don't want to review the product, I want to give a review of the seller!

·4 months agoI just experienced this for the first time today. My feedback module has changed since I left feedback a couple of weeks ago.
Seller feedback is still there but the system now displays a toggle for product reviews and rating in the MIDDLE of the seller feedback area. It says product feedback is optional but it's open by default. You won't see the seller star rating module at all unless you click the product one. The only parts of seller feedback that can be see are the "positive', "neutral" and "negative" buttons, and then text box is placed at the bottom of the page.
I'm stunned that anyone would design, approve, and roll this out as-is. It's a poor and confusing design. Product reviews should be placed in a distinctly separate section of the page, if they're going to have it.
Until/unless that changes, I'm no longer going to leave feedback. I don't want to accidentally leave unintended feedback for a seller and I'm not interested in leaving useless product reviews on this platform.

·5 months agoNever happened to me either. Not once. I check the seller themself and they are active so I would recommend calling customer service and having them get a ticket going so a tech could look at it. It's a glitch which needs to be fixed.

OP5 months agoHere you go. The only thing I didn't get in the picture was the "submit" button. This is what comes up when I click on the "Feedback" button in my purchases.

That's pretty much the same thing I see when I leave feedback, except I think mine has a note that choosing one of the "rate this product" stars is optional. I have to agree that it's misleading. Poorly designed. Nonetheless, you still can do what has already been suggested, namely, ignore the "instructions" and just type in whatever comments you want to. My comments typically summarize promptness, accuracy, and packaging.

It might be there, but buried. For some unfathomable reason, eBay has started defaulting the feedback sort to "Most Relevant" whatever that means. The feedback you might have been inserted somewhere way down in the middle. Change the sort to "Most Recent" and the new ones will come up on top.

OP5 months agoThe feedback I left after the "product review" is there, 2nd from the top. This also tells me the "product review" was not recorded as seller feedback because eBay will not allow more than one feedback per item.
Oh well, chalk it up to eBay screwing around with their software. At least he got my feedback! 🙂

·5 months agoWhen I come across that when leaving feedback, I just leave feedback as I always do for the seller and ignore the suggestion to review the product.

OP5 months agoThanks for the response. In this case, all I can do is give a product review. There is no way to give a seller feedback. The seller is rather new and did a great job describing and shipping the item. Sad I can't let others know this.
I wonder if this is happening to other sellers and me. Kind of sucks!

·5 months agoSo you can't click on the positive box which would light up with a check mark in green then scroll down to the other box type whatever you are wanting the leave in comment? I do see sometimes where there is just product review which means the seller would either automatically get 5 stars or the product could be ineligible for stars however I am always able to leave feedback for the seller.

·5 months agoI would like to see a screen shot of that page ... I have never been prevented from leaving feedback for a seller and I leave it (even tho I disagree with the entire feedback thing).

I leave the positive button unclicked while I type in the feedback comments first, and the DSR's. The positive button is the next-to-last thing I do, just before posting the feedback. I do this to prevent the feedback from being prematurely posted if I bumble and brush against the Enter key before I'm ready.
