I don't like eBay telling me what to say and how much feedback to leave. If the product is as described and shipping time is resonable, I always leave a positive feedback. If that's not enough info for you maybe I'm on the wrong shopping site. Check my passed feedback..

When you go to leave feedback and there is a prefilled comment in the box, typing your first letter gets rid of the suggestion. I did like it better when ebay used to give us an option to select from a list of previous feedback we wrote, rather than their suggestions.
As far as being reminded how many items we have to leave feedback for, as a seller I like it. Sellers these days receive far fewer feedback than we used to and each one helps. If the reminder gains us only a few more, then I am in favor of it. Don't forget sellers get the same reminders if they do not leave immediate feedback.

·3 years agoFirst, you're not talking to eBay. This is a member-to-member forum. And I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that eBay is dictating what you say or how much feedback you leave. EBay does now show a sample in the feedback left field, but as soon as you start typing it goes away. You can't leave the sample text even if you want to. And feedback is now, as it's always been, completely voluntary. You leave it if you want to and ignore it if you don't want to.

I'm a Seller and a Buyer here and I'm always fed up eBay over reach! Always generating ridicules reports and spewing over the top percentages on crazy criteria and just annoying never ending analysis paralysis! Using over analyzed data in an attempt to teach me the best way to deal with my customers and suppliers.. They treat every small guy the same as they do the Fast Movers dropping container loads of Chinese Widgets every 20 seconds..
I say this because for me, I still use FB the old school way.. It's still the best way we can judge who we're going to deal with buying or selling.. I know it's frowned on, but I choose (based on Feedback, Longevity and the particular $ amount involved) who I'm going to play with..

·3 years agoFeedback is becoming somewhat obsolete though I use it to check both buyer's and sellers. Mainly look at feedback left for others.
I get perhaps, 20% of buyers leave feedback.
On AMZ, I have gone approximately 500 transactions without a buyer leaving feedback. Thing of the past over there.

·3 years agoWow man.. That's disappointing.. Once again I think is about that the categories we deal in.. I'm 99.9 % antiques/collectibles and even go as far as leaving custom FB (never boiler plate) for Buyers and Sellers when I can. It works for sellers because of what you stated and I'm apt to get a better deal next time.. Same for my buyers for obvious reasons. The dollar amounts pretty much dictate the communication and warm fuzzy!
A five dollar item many times over a day,,, I totally see your point!

I've never played there🤔 tried a few of the others but they have too many moving parts for me, (old dog new trick thing). Besides, I'm doing well just to stay out of trouble here.🙄😎

I'm not buying squat from that seller. One of the MANY reasons why buyers are getting scammed. Or items not as described. They don't bother to look at Feedback.
Serves them right.

·3 years agoI get your meaning completely, but for me, I qualify neg FB as well. I use the same criteria I described before, (longevity, pos FB and dollar amt). Some folks, (blatantly apparent just among us here) just wan't to Swing their Hammer insisting that every problem is a Nail!
We can't rely on nor should we expect eBay be be a substitute for due diligence, personal responsibility and common sense... Yet I see respondents, even today, advising posters that the MBG is a get out of st*#@!%ty Free Card..
If it does't feel right, it's wrong..
Until some eBay 12yr old comes with a better plan, FB is my go to..
