false advertising
Summary: dgluc52 warned against purchasing pallets advertised on Amazon, claiming to have received unusable items through eBay's sellers, indicating false advertising. shire123 pointed out that buying pallets is risky since they usually contain unwanted or overstocked items. Others, like kensgiftshop and stainlessenginecovers, clarified that eBay sellers, not the platform itself, are responsible for these issues, and some sellers handle items properly. The conversation also touched on eBay's Mystery Box policy, with kathiec explaining that pallet listings usually provide general item information, even though specific contents aren't guaranteed. dbmm-media suggested filing a Money Back Guarantee case, but kathiec noted the challenge given the nature of such sales.

·1 week agoWas there a list of what was in the pallet?
If not I'm not sure how it skirts ebay's Mystery and Surprise Box policies.

·1 week agoPer the Mystery Box policy:
Grab bags or mystery boxes may be listed under the following conditions:
The listing contains general information about what is included
The listing does not single out items with monetary or collector's value unless they are included with every
These pallet listings give general information about what is included, i.e., "200 pieces of random clothing".

·1 week ago · EditedThe problem with a Money Back Guarantee case here is that the pallet was as described. Nowhere do pallet sales even intimate what you'll receive beyond "xx number of items". Since I presume most of these sellers don't take returns all any buyer unwise enough to buy one can do is learn the lesson not to be unwise enough to buy any more.

·2 weeks agoHas nothing to do with Amazon or Ebay. It's up to a Seller to 'go though' each item and determine 'does it work' 'is it stained' 'is it sized correctly' etc.
There are MILLIONS of successful ebay sellers that do this right.
You just ran into those that don't.

·2 weeks agoPallets from anywhere are a hit or miss proposition. Mostly a miss. Just remember pallet merchandise is generally returned items that people didn't want or overstocked. If an item is really selling I doubt they get into the "pallets"
