I guess it's my turn for another "Top Seller" ruse. I buy-it-now, get confirmation of the sale, A day later Ebay sends notification of "Track Your Order". Clinking the links gets me to the USPS, which states:
" Tracking is not available for this item. This may be because the tracking number is invalid; USPS has not yet received payment; USPS has not yet received the item; the item does not include tracking; or other reasons."
Indeed, the seller supplied "Tracking Number" was invalid. Ebay didn't validate the tracking nonsense BEFORE
they sent me the "Track Your Order" **bleep**. I contact the seller ask for an explanation.
Seller responds: "sorry. can i resend it to you?" WOW, now I'm asked for permission to resend my order, as if it was sent in the first place with a fake tracking number. On the contact seller page, the seller states my order had already shipped. Phone call to Ebay support advises to WAIT and if my purchase doesn't show up, file a claim. I asked support if they could recognize a FALSE statement, AGAINST Ebay policy, made by the seller. It was like a "Congressional " change the subject two-step, answer....WAIT for your order to show up.
Fake policies allow FAKE tracking numbers.

OP4 months agoI now know why mudshark "guessed" the identity of the seller. I goofed and revealed the seller that gave me a first class international shipping tracking number for an item listed as"Located in: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States". I was informed that "Mentioning another user, listing or user ID" was an act " to tarnish their reputation". Little did I know by quoting the listing "Located in: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States"and
showing a seller supplied, first class international tracking number, that I was NOT
" keeping the (BUYING PAGE of the) Community a welcoming, helpful, and respectful place for all users." I was advised:
"We encourage you to use the appropriate reporting channels so our team can review the issue properly."
I wonder if "the team" reviews the feedback of their "top seller", or the listing, or the tracking number.

I wonder if "the team" reviews the feedback of their "top seller", or the listing, or the tracking number.
Well, being a "top seller" doesn't give us any more clout on the forums or in eBay's eyes, other than the discounts we get on fees, assuming the listing conforms to their policy to allow those discounts.
As for a team, here on the forum, the team is all of us. There are a few eBay employees that visit the forums here and there, but its not going to be "team" per say. Your best source for eBay directly is via the help options on the main website, not here. However many members here have some great actual experience and knowledge that may exceed some of the help eBay might offer.
Finally, with regards to reviewing feedback or tracking numbers, those are done within the case generated when an issue is filed. Such as a return, or a feedback revision request. Reviews of those items are done at that time, and most likely automated.
Automation is due to the sheer number of buyers and sellers, as its way more than a "team" can handle directly without employing 1000s of workers to handle the load. Far easier to automate it and allows for more uniformity. Doesn't give buyers or sellers a great experience in all matters, but that is why sometimes things have to be appealed or involve someone directly.
Not all resolutions are going to be what the person wants either. I have had a few that didn't go my way over the years, so I get it.

OP4 months agogator, my reference to "the team" was from my quote from a moderator PM:
"We encourage you to use the appropriate reporting channels so our team can review the issue properly."
I wondered if "the team" of the appropriate reporting channels, that reviews issues properly, would consider feedback, the wording used in a listing, and the seller supplied tracking number.

"... A day later Ebay sends notification of "Track Your Order". Clinking the links gets me to the USPS, which states: Tracking is not available for this item. This may be because the tracking number is invalid; USPS has not yet received payment; USPS has not yet received the item".
Let me guess, the problem you are having is with the last seller you received feedback from. The most likely reason the tracking has not updated is the last one, because the item may be coming from China not the city and state posted on the listing. That means that the USPS tracking will not update until the item reaches the U.S. clears customs and is handed off to the USPS. However, it could also be a fake tracking number scam, because chinese sellers are responsible for most of them.
Did you check the seller's feedback profile before buying from them? If not you should do that now. That seller has received over 400 negative feedback in the last 12 months and even more neutral feedback, most of which should be considered negative ones. If you add half of the neutrals to the negatives it would give them a much lower percentage. That feedback was also posted by a seller with a different name than the one you bought from.
As of now you have to wait until the day after the last estimated delivery date, before you can file an item not received (INR) dispute. Before you do that save screen shots of the Order details and the tracking info, because chances are once you file an INR dispute the tracking number will change or the seller will send a different one, that shows a delivered scan. Which will mean the INR dispute will be denied by ebay. However in the message you receive telling you that the claim was closed, there will be an Appeal button. Write out what happened, then add your screen shots to the appeal, as proof that the item was not sent to you. If the appeal does not work, you may have to file for a charge back with your credit card provider, and the screen shots will help there.
In the future always check each seller's feedback profile before buying from one, no matter what their percentage is. You may also want to open the link below, click on Go To Best Answer, to find out how to recognize China based sellers who give U.S. locations.

OP4 months agomudshark61369,
Yes, [removed by moderator] is the seller that gave LE866109871US as the tracking number for my purchase. I've contacted USPS for verification of the tracking number. The USPS stated tracking numbers beginning with LE are FIRST CLASS INTERNATIONAL. The US ending letters of the tracking number indicate the item is mailed FROM THE US! I explained this to eBay support on a phone call, pointing out the listing location wording:
"Located in: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States" I asked eBay support if FALSE statements are against eBay policies, and what is the penalty for false location wording. Suspending the account of the seller, I was told. I said review [removed by moderator] feedback to see for yourself that this is an ongoing ruse, allowed by eBay. Support said I have to wait a day after the estimated delivery date for further action. I asked if eBay has to wait a day after to determine if the seller has violated eBay policy. "You'll have to wait a day after for further action" ...
Supposedly, eBay employees read these posts. I'm trying to make them proud of their "skill"...

No. Ebay employees do NOT read these posts. Your only recourse at this point is to wait until the last estimated delivery date has passed and then go file a claim (INR). If at anytime the tracking shows delivered but you get nothing then THAT constitutes a fake tracking scam.
In which case you file a Not as Described case and wait for a return label (which you will probably not get as the seller is in a foreign country). Then at 3 or 4 days after filing go back and have ebay step in.
If all that fails go to your payment source and file a charge back.
