Fake Makita tools - Part 2
In the past I had a thread on this topic but has since been locked. Ebay doesn't do much to stop the fake tools being sold to buyers with lack of knowledge so I try to help. I'll try and keep this updated when I have time

Most recently while searching I ran across this model 6914D.
That model number is for a makita cordless impact driver, here is the link to the manual:

·6 months agoYou see people show up at job sites with those fakes all the time. They get them through customs by have some other name and brand on the label stickers. Those are then removed and the fake ones are applied. That is why on the fakes the brand name is not molded into the carry case. It too is a sticker.

I looked at the three links you provided and all I could determine was that 2 of the three were late `90s 12v model 6914Ds the ones with the silver metal motor covers. The one with the black cover was from the early 2000s when they lighten the weight by switching to a plastic motor cover and added the speed selector behind the battery holder. In 2007 they upgraded their tools to the LXT series w/18v batteries.
Did you know that for awhile they had a 12v Model 6914 Impact driver? I found that out when looking up a part for my later model 18v impact driver.
That link to the Fixya conversation, did not give any specifics about the supposed fake tool or what it was that distinguished the questioner's "fake" tool from a real one.
My old Makita reciprocating saw bought at Home Depot came in an unstamped plastic case, and I was able to register the warranty. The soft case that came with my cordless drill and impact driver, a special intro set, also bought at H.D. did not have the Makita logo on it, but I have seen the same set with the logo case. Again the warranty was able to be registered with Makita.

Did you not notice the cords attached?
I guarantee you didn't even look...

Why you come here and try to discredit my post I can't figure out.

I was not trying to discredit your post. I think I got confused when I first opened the link to the 2024 post and saw in it that you wrote: "I was searching tonight for rotary hammers and saw many fakes".
Then in this post you wrote:"Here is a link to a discussion on these hammer drills with fake Makita labels model 6914D"
So I started searching for 6914D DRILLS for some reason. Maybe because I had a corded one, and now have an 18v Drill. When I searched the Makita site I put in the 6914D model number and it immediately showed the drill. Not the now superseded Driver. I guess before yesterday I never knew that Makita had made 5 tools, both Drills and Drivers, corded and cordless using the same model numbers.

·6 months agoUnless Makita takes action by filing a VeRo complaint, the only way these listings are likely to disappear is if there is a pattern of Ebay Moneyback Guarantee return requests for Item Not As Described, identifying these tools as counterfeit.
Makita has limited distribution so that it is unlikely that any of the people who think they can buy new Makita tools on Ebay are likely to ever know they are counterfeit unless they stop operating and they attempt to seek warranty repairs.

·6 months agoUnfortunately many buyers try to save money buying tools on eBay without basic consideration about factory warranty..when buying expensive equipment, buying from authorized suppliers is a must…

·6 months agoEbay might not take YOU seriously, but if Makita found out they would very likely file a VERO complaint and get them removed instantly.
Personally I'd focus more of your energy on growing your business, not playing ebay police.
