Extended shipping time question
So I purchased a custom excavator attachment that is going to be custom made in Singapore from a 100% 12k+ Ebay seller but it might be several months untill it arrives. Am I protected for delivery until the tracking shows that it arrived or is there a time period? Also,when does the 30 day return window start?
"Usually it takes about 10-15 working days for production and about 5 weeks for container shipping and fedex delivery. Is this timeframe ok for you?"
"Thank you sir.
We will upload the tracking number to the orders after the item arrives at our US warehouse and picked up by the carrier."

OP4 months agoJust a follow up. I did recieve the item today and everything was better than expected. I also recieved $250 of additional items for installation.Thanks for all the help and suggections.

Please realize that you need to check the Payments, returns, and scamming section for your eBay item number.
Or you might be misled, right here in this thread. Also, if eBay MBG fails you, remember you've still PayPal item not received with the $750 signature confirmation requirement, followed by your card issuer with a goods not received chargeback.

Please realize that the timeframes you've been given relate to eBay's Money Back Guarantee. If the item was listed in a Business & Industrial category the MBG doesn't apply.

-- you have 30 days from the last estimated delivery date to start an Item Not Received refund request.
Perhaps let the seller know if you do, that you're just starting a refund request for protection.
Then from that date you have another 21 business days, which is 29 calendar days or more "until the tracking shows that it arrived" before eBay will automatically close your request without a refund.
So you have
1. from now until the last estimated delivery date
2. plus 30 days to start a refund request at the very end of those 30 days
3. and another 21 business days for the tracking number to show that you have been hitched.

OP5 months agoThere was no estimated delivery time listed in the auction and it has just now been marked as shipped. I noticed it was marked shipping in just under 30 days.

And since
-- the delivery won't have the signature confirmation that's required for $750 or more
after you start a refund request within 30 days of the assumed latest estimated delivery date
-- you will get a refund when you ask eBay to step in it within 21 business days, whether or not something arrives.

From the description and feedback comments the unit will not be custom made in Singapore, that will be done in China where the part was manufactured. Because it is an Business and industrial category item, the standard Money Back Guarantee (MBG) terms may not apply, including for the shipping time frame.
Excluded Items: Industrial equipment, heavy machinery, and some specific business equipment categories often fall under special protection rather than the standard Money Back Guarantee,
Alternative Protection: "If the item is listed under certain business equipment categories, it may be covered by the Business Equipment Purchase Protection (BEPP), which covers major undisclosed damage or non-delivery for items over $1,000,"
Since the hitch coupler cost $1,000 it is not covered by the Alternative protections or the MBG, including for non-delivery.
"I'll take a chance on it based on record of the seller".
Since you already purchased the attachment you took your chance.
The seller may have a 100% rating, but if an earlier buyer did try to file an item not received claim for that or several of the seller's other items, it would have been rejected and therefore they could not leave a non-positive feedback. Even if the part were covered by the MBG but failed more than 30 days after it was delivered, the MBG protections would have expired. If it happened after 60 days no feedback could be left. In reading the positive comments for the last 10 items the seller sold in the last year there are some that would have given me pause, before buying from the seller.
These days I do not buy anything made in China, even some of the things they are good at producing.

OP5 months agoIt was under $800. The only thing that I know of to go by that I am aware of is the feedback and I can only speculate about the bad experiences.I did just not getting a shipped notice.

·5 months agoHonestly I wouldn't do that deal. Ebay only gives 30 days and even with extended handling time it may still not be enough.

Usually international shipping tracking can be done if a domestic shipping partner of the international shipper's tracking is uploaded to the listing and starts tracking when it is received, after clearing customs, by FedEx in this case.
If the seller did not upload a FedEx tracking number to your Order details I would be a bit wary.
FedEx, does have container and freight capabilities but I do not know the particulars of those services or the costs. You can look that up on their site.I can't even begin to think of the shipping costs and customs fees this will involve.
The 30 day protection window begins on the day after the last estimated delivery date, or on the date a delivered scan is posted.
If the listing was posted in the Business and Industrial category there will not be Not as described protections.

It might be helpful if you post the ebay item number (12 digits without hyphens) which can be found under the item title of the listing in your purchase history.

·5 months agoWhat is the handling time stated in the listing? Sellers can put their handling time at up to 40 days, but if they’ve said it to something like two or three days and the item will not ship for much longer than that, you could easily go past the 30 days after the original estimated delivery date shown in the listing before you would even know if it was actually going to ship, in which case you would be too late to file a money back guarantee claim. I would be very wary, even if it’s an established to seller like that.
