Error 3008
Summary: sheepycollects expressed frustration after winning an auction at a good price only to have the order cancelled by the seller, citing 'damaged/out of stock' reasons. They were also unable to bid on another item due to an 'error 3008' message. kathiec explained that the error indicates an issue with item specifics in the listing and questioned the intent to continue business with the seller. sheepycollects clarified they just wanted an explanation. They suspect the seller canceled to avoid selling at a lower price and may have blocked them. kathiec clarified sellers can't block feedback, and the error message does allow for blocked buyer scenarios. sheepycollects plans to wait for a seller response before leaving feedback.
So I won the auction for a card at a good price. Within an hour after paying my order is cancelled and the listed reasons is damaged/out of stock. I messaged the seller to ask them myself what was the reason for cancelling as I'd like to know before I leave a review. Shortly after I go to their page to see if they relisted the item and I saw something else I'd like to potentially bid on. When I did I get an error 3008 message and I'm unable to bid. Did they block me just because I got a card for a good price and was willing to message/question them in DMs for cancelling the item?

·1 month agoAccording to Google AI, error 3008 has nothing to do with anything you've done.
"Error 3008 on eBay indicates that there is a problem with the item specifics provided in the listing. This error typically arises when the item specifics do not match the category selected for the listing or when required specifics are missing.
Common Causes
Missing Required Item Specifics: Certain categories require specific details that must be filled out.
Incompatible Item Specifics: The specifics provided may not align with the chosen category, leading to a mismatch."
So it's something only the seller can fix. I'm curious, however, why you would want to do further business with a seller who would cancel a sale because they didn't get as much as they wanted?

You stated in your original post "I saw something else I'd like to potentially bid on. When I did I get an error 3008 message and I'm unable to bid." So that means that you DID want to do business with the seller that cancelled your original purchase.

OP1 month ago · EditedYou're right. I was going to potentially bid just in case I'd get it cheap. At the time I didn't know I was blocked but you would be correct.

OP1 month agoAs far as I can tell it's just them upset it didn't sell as high as they wanted and they refunded me & blocked to me try avoiding messages and potential negative feedback. I have to specifically go onto my account through the eBay website versus the mobile app to even be able to access the ability to leave feedback.

·1 month agoSellers don't have the ability to block you from leaving feedback. They do have the ability to block you from purchasing their listings, but when that happens the message you get says "this buyer isn't accepting bids from you". It's not a numbered error message.

OP1 month agoAlright. Well this isn't a situation I've had to deal with before and I do believe I've been blocked. The exact message I get when I try to bid is this
"You are unable to purchase this item due to restrictions from the seller. Please contact the seller for more information. (3008)"
Thank you for all the help/information. I'll wait to see if I randomly get a message back before I leave negative feedback in a week.

OP1 month agoAlso I just looked at my feedback and they left me a positive review even though they cancelled and refunded the card.
