eBay Violation of their own policies
Why does eBay violate their own policies ?
There is a seller that has close to 17k items for sale and has a logo on their storefront with their number that says call with their number .I have reported it however eBay refuses to do anything about it since they are big time sellers hence giving them preferential exception to eBay policies ..Ebay continually says they are investigating for over 6 weeks however the number has been up there for years .I am sure if I put my number up there I would be shut down within 24 hrs.EBay violates their own policies for profit even if they are losing money .

·3 years agoeBay's policy about publishing contact information says that it is not allowed unless eBay permits it:

Sellers are allowed to share their phone numbers, if they choose to do so according to this policy:

·3 years agoI have not see a phone number in a listing but I have seen a email address in a listing and have seen the actual address with advertisement to buy collectables. I reported them.
The one with the eMail in the listing had very few items listed and they were removed within a couple of hours. They still list items but without their eMail in the listing.
The one with the address in the listing is a large seller and is allowed to keep their listings without removing their address.
I suspect the size of the seller is what determines if it is ok to have your eMail, address or phone number in a listing. Maybe a large seller has a different contract they agree to then the one for most users of eBay.
Soon this may not matter for large sellers as recently passed law will make it a requirement that this information is posted in their listings.

·3 years agoEbay isn't violating any policies. Although the seller is violating policy, ebay isn't enforcing the policy.
There are about 25 million sellers on ebay. And thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of reports of violations made daily. It's virtually impossible for ebay to read, investigate and act on every report.

·3 years agoJust as there is no shortage of Large Sellers of repro "Antique" Chinese Export Porcelain sold by the container load even though every complaint course of action has been taken and every avenue (including legal) has been exhausted!
I get that there is no recourse & that policies get bent when large sums are being realized.. I just don't get folk's not admitting that it's happening or giving responses to imply that it's not.. Boils down to,
Too much Dough to Let Go & Plausible Deniability.

·3 years agoIt’s not eBay violating policy it’s the seller you are referring to. You seem to be confusing the 2.
eBay is not going to tell you the outcome of any investigation. So they will say anything to get you off the phone.

·3 years agoAre you a business?
If not, then that is the answer, once you get bigger and decide to register as a business this rule will apply to you also.
I had to be a shooting star seller before I could add those details to my site, not sure how many you need now or if that is even a requirement any more.

·3 years agoAre they saying to cal for info about the item or to make an off eBay sale?
There is no shortage of big seller that have been booted off eBay. So, being a big seller and 17K is not all so big, does not insure you can break the rules.
