ebay, the seller, and fedex left me out to dry for $602.19
Summary: slappman shared their frustrating experience with an order misdelivered by FedEx to the incorrect address. Despite evidence showing the error, the seller did not assist in resolving the issue, and eBay closed their claim, siding with the seller. FedEx failed to rectify the mistake, leaving slappman to locate the package themselves. Other participants suggested filing a chargeback, but noted that negative feedback was removed because the case was settled in favor of the seller. slappman argued that both eBay and the seller failed to act responsibly, emphasizing that better investigation of the evidence was needed.
Has anyone else been railroaded by all parties when their order gets delivered to the wrong address? I did!
On September 5th 2026 I ordered some firewalls from a seller in Japan. One I've ordered from before and had no issues.
They shipped the order to the correct address but Fedex delivered it to the wrong location.
The tracking stated it was delivered and had the correct address listed.
I contact the seller and ask them to look into it.
The seller provides two screen shots showing the Fedex provided tracking info stating it was delivered.
The address was written correctly but the photo that Fedex drivers take when they drop off a package clearly showed that it was not my location.
Nothing is moving so I turn to ebay and make a claim, stating the package was not received. I simultaneously turn to Fedex to see if maybe they can tell me where the package was dropped off.
I provide to the seller a copy of a Fedex support chat I had where the agent confirmed that according to their GPS data, it was clearly misdelivered. They stated they will send the driver back out to try and find it.
Before I can blink, the seller shuts down my ebay claim of not receiving the package by making a request to ebay to close the case early. ebay stated this in the details of the case. That was a not cool move...
Days go by and I hear nothing from Fedex. I appeal the claim to get it active again and it gets denied by ebay.
Once again I contact Fedex support, start a chat and find out that they too have closed the support "ticket" because when they sent the driver back to find my $602.19 box they couldn't find the same address again.
WHAT!?
At this point the seller is ignoring me, ebay has shut me down, and Fedex just doesn't give a rats ***
I find out that I too have access to the Fedex GPS coordinates where the driver left that box. Within 10 minutes of me getting my hands on those coordinates I found that thing and carried it home.
Next I leave negative feedback for this seller because they ignored my request for assistance in finding this package. Fedex stated that the shipper needed to make the claim on there end and I could do nothing else and since this seller refused to assist I left the negative feedback.
ebay chooses to file 13 my feedback to protect this high volume seller. So now, I don't even have an outlet to express to other buyers to expect no help from this seller if the shipper misdelivers the product. Wow!
Off to the BBB where I filed an official complaint against ebay for refusing to assist with this issue. I was left dealing with nonsensical jibberish AI generated responses in their emails. Completely USELESS BS and this automated system created by ebay should be taken offline. Gee has anyone else had such a ridiculous load of nonsense occur and gotten any resolution. All three of the parties involved didn't give a you know what that I didn't get the package. They were fine with me throwing 602.19 into thin air. The seller got paid, ebay got paid and Fedex got paid, but I got hung out to dry. If I hadn't done this myself and found that box still sitting where the driver left it I would have had NOTHING!

·2 weeks agoYou lost the case because tracking showed delivery. Your negative feedback was removed because when a case is settled in favor of the seller no feedback can be left.
It seems to me the only party responsible for the misdelivered package was FedEx. I'm not sure what you think eBay could have done. The seller couldn't have done any more than you did. FedEx is the party that dropped the ball. I'm glad you retrieved your package.

OP1 week ago · EditedVery interesting take... Yes, Fedex was at fault. Unfortunately, Fedex also requires that the "Shipper" not the receiver make a claim regarding a missing package that does not arrive to the intended recipient address. As I was the recipient address I was powerless. The "Seller", which you have quickly relinquish all fault, has the responsibility of, at the very least, making some type of effort to work with the carrier to locate the package based on the factual evidence that was presented to them. Do you not think so?
I ask because the mindset behind your comment is precisely why I almost lost $602.19
Every party in the chain of this transaction, including Fedex wiped their hands of it before reviewing the evidence. They only saw the text of the tracking data stating it was delivered. That was it... nothing else was considered. The high volume seller was protected by ebay, making ebay also at fault for expediting the closure of the claim at the seller's request, without reviewing the evidence presented to them. This indeed adds ebay to the parties at fault.
How is the seller not taking on any fault responsibility?
As far as what I think ebay could have done... ebay could have actually looked at the presented data showing the package was NOT delivered to me and completed my claim. That's what I think ebay should have done and that's what they should have done.

·1 week agoWhat exactly would you have done if you were the seller? How would you get any iota of a result in that position? This was FedEx which is often lousy, now you both know.
