Has anyone actually been able to get back their money from a seller who purchased shipping ID's that are delivering in your city and providing you with it?
I just lost a case and eBay claims it was delivered to "My address". I've called and spoke to UPS and they've already confirmed the shipment was never coming to my address but a different address which they can't provide because I can't provide the actualy destination address.
Does eBay encourage this type of practice? If so, why aren't we all doing it?

I responded to another poster today that is suffering from the same scam. Please see post #6 in the following thread for your choices of trying to get your money back. Start right now with getting the idea of "Item not Received" right out of your head, as continuing with that is not going to help you no matter what of the following solutions you select:

·1 year agoI recently went through two consecutive transactions where this happened, provided all the evidence you can think of. eBay still sided with the scamming seller who relied on drop shippers to fulfill the purchases. I was able to get refunds through the concierge service. But you may not have that option. It’s a huge problem.

·1 year agoA similar thing happened to a friend of mine. She filed a Not As Described case. The seller had to provide a prepaid shipping label. She used the label to return an empty box to the seller, returning to him exactly what she had received, which was nothing. The tracking proved that she had returned the package to the seller. She received a full refund.

"Does eBay encourage this type of practice?"
Of course not.

·1 year agoIf the scam were black and white, ebay could deal with the problem, but it is not. eBay is not involved with the shipping transaction beyond sometimes being where shipping labels are bought, by the seller/scammer. Therefore the shippers will not give them access needed to prove the scam.
Had you checked the seller's feedback profile page, you would have seen they have done this 8 times before. If you go to your profile and click on the sellers feedback number and when that page opens click on the numbers of neutral and negatives to read only those comments you will see that.
Getting to a seller's profile from a listing page is harder.

·1 year ago@restonda,
The fake tracking scam is hard for ebay to deal with because of the privacy policies of the shipping agencies, which are only supposed to allow the sender access to the shipping label information, address and package type size weight. They balk at even writing notes written on company stationary stating in general that a labels address was not yours and that the package type/size/ weight was not appropriate for what you were to receive.
If you open the link below and click on the Go To Best Answer button you can find out what you can try to do to get the info you need to win an appeal or to report the transaction through ebay's social media outlets which are manned by actual ebay employees who know about the scam and have the power to issue refunds. That reply is for a USPS issue, but the way to get the info if you can from a UPS store is the same. If your ups tracking has a photo of the delivery address and you go through their social media outlets you can ask the rep to do a google map street view search of your address. The links to the social media outlets are in the next reply in the link.

FYI. if you can't prove your case to ebay, PayPal has a selection on their report section for "Wasn't delivered to my address" or similar wording.
Because the scam is hard to get resolution from ebay it does help to sign up for the Free advanced tracking information offered by USPS Informed Delivery, FedEx Delivery Manager, UPS My Choice. They each have info in them that can be used to beat the scam.

·1 year agoSounds like you had lots and lots of bad luck purchases from all the feedbacks you gave to other sellers.
'eBay still sided with the buyer'...Sometimes eBay takes a look at your past purchases and makes a decision based of a history of purchases.

OP1 year ago"Sometimes eBay takes a look at your past purchases and makes a decision based of a history of purchases."
Now that's funny. I'm sure that's how eBay has been around for so long, right? Basing claims/disputes decisions on past purchases. That has nothing to do with what's right and what's wrong. It's pretty black and white on these types of scams and eBay is simply choosing to turn a blind eye to them.
I've had my fair share of bad luck purchases, I don't shop on eBay often. This here is another reason why I shouldn't keep coming back here to make purchases.

OP1 year agoI've contacted UPS and they've confirmed the delivery address on the provided tracking does not corrospond to my address. I've asked for an email or any sort of proof/documentation so that I could pursue this case on eBay but the rep said they could not. It was somewhat of a weird conversation because prior to her claiming she claimed she couldn't provide the address of delivery for that tracking number, she ended up giving it to me anyway. Guess what? The address was not mines but a business in my city.
The purchase was for a small itx computer case, weighing no more than 12-13 pounds. The tracking provided by the seller is from a batch shipment that includes a total of 4 shipments, all with different tracking ID's and different weights. From 2lbs to 16lbs. If this wasn't obvious enough, the seller did not and could not provide a receipt or a copy of the shipping label to prove my address was on there. I already know it's not because he/she never purchased a legitimate shipping label to begin with.
I paid with PayPal, what are my chances of opening a claim there as well? This makes me sick that eBay does little to nothing to protect it's buyers.

·1 year agoPaypal is more trouble to deal with. Just getting in contact with them is a pain. Did you pay with a paypal balance?

·1 year agoIf you paid by credit card, contact your card company. Let them know it's the fake tracking number scam. Contact the shipper and get a letter saying the tracking number was not to your address. An email from them will do for at least Visa cards. You may have to call the shipper more than once. Each call gets a different rep.
They check with the shipper anyway but it goes quicker if you have that letter.
As to why eBay is doing nothing, we are all perplexed. If they thing late shipping makes unhappy buyers, this is much worse. It's become the fastest growing scam. It's surpassed gift card fraud now.

Is it from the seller who already has 4 negs in the last month, all claiming non-receipt?
If that's the seller, include a note in your appeal showing the pattern.

I assume you mean "seller" as in your title.
An "Item Not Received" case is handled automatically; if the seller has tracking that shows delivery, the seller wins.
If you want help from eBay you need to get documentation that shows false tracking -- you don't need the address, just a document from the shipping service that says it's not your address, or some other indication like the shipping date or weight does not match your order -- then contact eBay via social media and explain you have a case of false tracking and submit your documentation. It may help to go to a UPS store with a copy of your purchase order details that shows both your shipping address and the tracking number.
If you are unable to get help from eBay, then you can try your credit card issuer, but having documentation helps.

You should be able to contact eBay via Instagram and demonstrate that the tracking is false if the tracking number was generated prior to your order. Not all false tracking is that blatant, though, so sometimes more documentation may be needed.
eburtonlab
·1 year agoIf tracking shows delivery, but nothing arrives, contact the shipping service to determine if the tracking corresponds to a delivery to your address.
If you can obtain hard copy documentation of that the tracking does not correspond to a delivery to your address, contact eBay via social media and explain that you have a case of "false tracking" and you should be given the opportunity to provide your documentation to eBay via direct message. This is different than the usual "item not received" case which is handled automatically and which allows the seller to win by providing tracking that shows delivery.
You can avoid many issues entirely by choosing to only do business with experienced sellers that have a proven track record of delivering similar items as seen by examining the seller's feedback page, and by avoiding inexperienced sellers, sellers with patterns of negative feedback indicating serious problems, or sellers with large gaps in the selling history or recent drastic changes of seller behavior.
albertabrightalberta
·1 year agoYou need to get a letterhead note from the carrier stating that "the item with tracking # (fill in the blank) was not delivered to (your name)/(your address). It was delivered to another name and address in the same zip code."
They probably won't disclose where it was delivered but the note above should work.
You can then appeal your loss. Also, you can report the seller.

OP1 year agoHow would I go about this? Would walking into a UPS storefront and asking for something like this work? I've never been in this situation nor thought I would ever so I am a bit clueless as how to obtain proof of false information or if it's even possible as they have their own rules/regulations on privacy.
