eBay said the product wasn't covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee but didn't say why
A seller never sent me a product I purchased and did not respond to 2 follow-up messages I sent.
So I wrote to eBay about it, and eBay told me the purchase wasn't covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee but didn't say why.
There was no option to reply to the eBay message. How can I find out why it wasn't covered?

·2 years agoThe leather jacket I purchased was probably stolen by the courier but the tracking link said it was delivered at my address which I have proven wrong (the courier didn't scan the parcel and can not show a signature for receipt). Nevertheless eBay refuses to claim the damage from the courier, while the courier told me that eBay is the party to do so, and refuses to refund the money. Please do not purchase when the international shipping program of eBay is used as youy are not protected at all.

·2 years agoYou can file for a refund where item states "estimated date of delivery"...not before.
You might have missed the date to file for a refund if you waited too long as well.
And some items do take a while for shipping as in "authentic guaranteed" items and some of those are not covered to return.
Customer service is no the best option to get answers.

OP2 years agoThank you so much for your reply.
1. Where can I find out whether I missed the date to file for a refund, and where I file the refund request?
2. Is it possible to find out what eBay's justification is for telling me that the purchase is not covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee?
3. Before I buy something in the future, is there a way for me to find out for such whether the product is covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee?
Thank you again.

·2 years agoWas it the item purchased in mid Dec?
What was the estimated delivery date?
If it's been more then 30 days from the estimated delivery date, the MBG has expired.
If you paid through Pay Pal, open a case with them or contact your payment source.

·2 years agoThe usual reasons:
- You have coverage for 30 days and you waited too long to file a claim.
- The item was listed in a category that doesn't have MBG protections - view the listing to see if it says covered by the MBG.
- Buyer had item forwarded or reshipped (mostly applies to international buyers using a domestic address).
- Buyer abuse and eBay took away MBG privileges.
I'm going to guess scenario 1 applies here. On what date did you purchase the order? What was the estimated delivery date on your order? What was the item number? @bigmarchankin

·2 years agoIf you're within the dispute window for your financial institution (credit card, bank, PayPal, etc used to pay for the item) then you can file a dispute with them @bigmarchankin .

·2 years agoI have had this happen at least 3 times. eBay does not help you.
Also, I have seen eBay delete negative feedback to protect the corrupt seller.
Also, getting in contact with eBay is an obstacle all in itself.
