eBay removed my justified negative feedback about a hazardous shipment (big box of broken glass)
I bought a 26x22" framed piece of artwork. The seller has almost 3,000 feedback at 99.9%, so I felt confident it would arrive safely.
To my disappointment, the item was shipped in only cardboard with no padding to protect the glass. I could hear the broken glass before I even opened the package, and there were actually little tiny glass pieces leaking out of the box. Not surprisingly, the artwork was ruined.
(I'm including a short Vimeo link so you can hear the glass moving in the unopened package.)
At no point did the seller apologize or even seem the slightest bit apologetic for the item arriving broken. They asked me to open a case and ship everything back to get a refund.
I left a negative review describing the packaging and the item's condition when it arrived. I did NOT mention eBay, a case, refund, profanities or any personal info. But my review still got taken down less than 2 hours after I posted it.
This means some other unsuspecting buyer in the future is going to encounter the same issue because there's nothing on the seller's profile to indicate cause for concern--and they still have 70 large framed items listed for sale.
I've been on eBay since 1999 and rarely leave negative feedback, but this seriously makes me not feel safe shopping here anymore. I have broken glass in my yard that I'm worried someone might step on.

·3 years agoI think in future, it' s really more likely your seller will do a better packaging job to help insure the safe arrival of a similar item to a buyer.

·3 years agoI would have just filed for a return as damaged in shipping. If you could hear broken glass inside the package, you already knew what to expect. The seller should have responded and told you to return it or just issued a refund. Sill, I would have not given a Neg over it.
It should not have been packed in a flat box as another package getting tossed on top could break it like that. Needed a square double box and bubble wrap.
I can see where eBay would remove such a feedback as it looked like you were rating the shipping service and that's not allowed.

I'd not even have contacted the seller, so I'd not have been disappointed with their manners... but I'd open a Return. Go for that to at least get your money back, @xeldelia. Good luck.

·3 years agoI agree. I wouldn’t care about a lack of an apology here. The seller did their customer service job and told you how to get your money back. Sorrys are a dime a dozen. True fact, I say sorry all the time to buyers who complain to me, but I hardly ever am. It doesn’t mean anything.

·3 years agoeBay doesn’t remove negative feedbacks for no reason for a seller. There has to be something that falls under feedback removal eligibility. In order to possibly find out that reason you need to give more info.
Do you remember the exact verbiage of your feedback? Did you open a case to return the item as the seller suggested? Did you mention anything about a review or feedback in any of the communication you had with the seller, if so, what?
