eBay Removed My Feedback After I Reported Counterfeit AirPods Max
Summary: cheapauction2k15 expressed frustration with eBay for removing their feedback about a counterfeit AirPods Max purchase, arguing that such feedback helps protect the community. They emphasized the difficulty for buyers in identifying counterfeit electronics and the need for transparency. kathiec explained that buyers could open an "Item Not as Described" case to seek a refund, while albertabrightalberta speculated that the feedback was removed due to possible name-calling or accusations, which are against eBay's policies.
I’m extremely disappointed with how eBay handled my recent purchase.
I purchased a pair of AirPods Max on eBay, and after receiving and inspecting them, I discovered that they appeared to be counterfeit and not genuine Apple AirPods Max.
I left feedback describing my experience and warning other buyers about the authenticity issue. Instead of allowing that feedback to remain so other buyers could make an informed decision, eBay removed it.
How is that fair to buyers? Feedback is supposed to help protect the community and allow customers to share their actual experiences.
Removing feedback about a suspected counterfeit product makes it much harder for other buyers to know what they may be purchasing.
Counterfeit electronics can already be very difficult to identify, especially for someone who doesn’t know exactly what to look for. Buyers should not have to become product-authentication experts just to safely purchase something on eBay.
I’ve used eBay expecting the platform to provide protections against counterfeit merchandise. This experience has seriously damaged my trust in the platform. I would like eBay to review why my feedback was removed and investigate the authenticity of the items being sold by this seller.
Buyers deserve transparency, and legitimate feedback about suspected counterfeit products should not simply disappear.

"Removing feedback about a suspected counterfeit product makes it much harder for other buyers to know what they may be purchasing. "
So you didn't go to an Apple store to verify that they were counterfeits, but you left feedback based on an opinion not fact. Leaving feedback based on suspicion If your feedback stated they were suspected fakes and called the seller a scammer, it would qualify as slander and therefore qualify to be removed. If you were suspicious about the pods, why didn't you file a Not As Described dispute and get a refund? You seem to already know how to do that based on your profile.
"Counterfeit electronics can already be very difficult to identify, especially for someone who doesn’t know exactly what to look for. Buyers should not have to become product-authentication experts just to safely purchase something on eBay".
If you already know there are counterfeit electronic items sold on ebay and other sites, then you do have to become somewhat of an expert. There are sites that can tell you how to identify counterfeit from real products. Or as I wrote above, you can take a suspect item to a brand's Authorized dealer to find out if an item is a counterfeit or not.
"I’ve used eBay expecting the platform to provide protections against counterfeit merchandise. This experience has seriously damaged my trust in the platform".
Did you check the seller's feedback profile before buying the pods? If not then what good is feedback, if you do not use it yourself? If you go by a seller's percentage without actually checking their feedback you are defeating its purpose.
I bring that up because according to your profile you bought recently bought from a couple of very high volume sellers that have high positive percentages, but hundreds of negative & neutral feedback. Feedback and the Money Back Guarantee (MBG) do protect you but only if you use them.
"I would like eBay to review why my feedback was removed and investigate the authenticity of the items being sold by this seller".
Since ebay does not have fulfillment centers where products are stored, how would they go about verifying a seller's items are real if the photos and descriptions are of a legitimate product? Do you expect them to go to the seller's location without a warrant, and demand to see the items they have listed on ebay?
Since millions of new items are listed on the site daily the number of people needed to verify each listing would end up driving up the cost of items to a point that it would be too expensive to buy on this site. The possibility of receiving counterfeit items with online sales has always been an issue but ebay's MBG does at least protect you from losing your money.

After seeing some of the other feedbacks you left for sellers with whom you were unhappy, I'm guessing that there was some namecalling and accusations in your comment. And if that's the case and the seller reported it, ebay will remove it.
(There are some other feedbacks that probably would have been removed if the sellers had reported them.)
You can't call sellers "scammers."
You can't refer to contacting ebay to settle disputes.
You can't leave negative comments for buyers.

Your protection against counterfeits is to open an Item Not as Described case, return the item at the seller's expense, and get a refund. When you do that the seller also gets an account defect, just a few of which will result in penalties ranging from higher fees to account suspension.
Without knowing what your feedback said it's impossible to know why it was removed.
