Ebay Money back guarantee, not as described return, USPS ground advantage missing /delayemail policy
Directed by ebay customer support to file a item not as described return to receive a prepaid return label
I was issued a Q.R. code, return label was printed & applied by a postal employee to the return package. I was issued a receipt.
The only scan that appears in tracing is the Dec 3rd acceptance scan
1.
I am not the purchaser of the mailing label, should the package eventually be determined lost by USPS would I be the party required by ebay' s MBG to file for the insurance coverage to secure a refund of my original payment to ebay?
2.
According to USPS, a missing package search can be undertaken at this time, but that does require the receiipent address.
I have never viewed the information that appeared on the return label.
Although I had clicked on send return label to my email when I received the Q.R. code, it is not in my emails.
3.
Am I or the seller the responsible party to file a missing/ delayed mail search on a MBG return
4. I spoke with a ebay customer service agent by telephone, & was informed that the seller doesn't wish ebay to disclose their address.
5 I was informed to expect a telephone call on Sunday to discuss options
What should I do to continue my MBG buyer protection.

OP1 year agoThe only scan package received should be corrected to reflect the acceptance scan on 1/3/2025 not Dec 3

Hopefully, you did not look up and call an ebay customer service number you found online. Those numbers are used to phish for people's info. If you did go through the process of getting a call back, you probably spoke to a 3rd party call center employee whose play book doesn't cover this issue, and it's doubtful that you will get a call back tomorrow.
Have you tried contacting your seller to tell them what has happened, giving them the tracking # and asked them to contact the USPS about the missing package? Even if they don't give you their address they will probably give it to the USPS rep.
Your best bet to speak/ chat with an actual ebay employee, who has the power to take actions, would be to use one of the social media links below. Except for the first and last sentences of your post copy and paste the rest of it to a message. You will need the seller's username and the ebay item number which can be found in your purchase history or Order details. Do post the tracking number you have so the rep can check it out, maybe they can retrieve the address info you need.

I see you got some of the same info I wrote but couldn't post because of an internet connection hiccup.
I had a thought while trying to reconnect and it was, if you still have the QR code, try taking it to your local P.O. and try getting them to give you the seller's address so you can file the missing package claim with the USPS.

Generally speaking, the "acceptance" scan you got will likely be enough for eBay to show you made the return. There have been a few reports of eBay refunding the buyer from the seller's proceeds simply because "the package should have gotten there by now, so it must have been returned" sort of thing.
eBay is not as keen on the return actually arriving, but rather that the buyer sent it back.
If you don't get your promised "call back" tomorrow, remember you always have these people:

OP1 year agoI will advise of significant future events related to this experience with ebay's famous buyer MBG
I welcome a reply to the questions presented from ebay or from counsel on their belalf to provide transparency for myself & users who may become similarly aggrieved in future
