ebay money back guarantee
So I bought an item for $89 covered under ebay money back guarantee.
Item shipped is wrong, ebay said to return for refund... but it's heavy item and I have to pay for return shipping. I said it's covered under ebay money back guarantee?!?
Cust. Serv. said no, it's "BUYER REMORSE"
Worse? the seller doesn't have to refund anything, meaning, I buy item, I pay for return and chance getting NO refund.
At this point I can't trust ebay and ebay sellers so I buy mostly at amazon and aliexpress.

If you looked at the screen shot provided by stainless and see that you chose one of the Blue highlighted reasons that are considered Remorse returns, then YOU screwed up. There are no customer service reps that are auto parts specialists. They look at the listing and fitment information, see that the part is for your make/model and they have to deny the dispute. If you did open a dispute it appeared just above your purchase history, and when you received the message closing the first dispute there was a Appeal button in it. You have 30 days from a dispute being closed to appeal. You could have written in it that you chose the wrong reason for the dispute and that it should have been Doesn't match description and photos then you could have posted a photo of the item you received and if there are obvious differences between that one and the one in the listing, you would get a refund.
"you can google ebay money back and read the scams, too many for me!".
Most of those complaints are from people who did not read or follow the MBG policies, only contacted the seller, chose the wrong reasons for disputes or did not try to appeal just as you have.

·1 year agoALL you needed to do was to open an ITEM NOT AS DESCRIBED CASE because it was described as fitting your vehicle and it doesn't. That's all. The seller would have been required to send you a prepaid return label or to let you keep the item and refund you. eBay is heavily biased in favor of BUYERS, not sellers, in this way.
I don't know exactly what action you took, but eBay basically gives you just one bite of the apple. You can still do a chargeback on your credit card, usually for at least several months.

·1 year agoIt seems at the very end of last year, you had essentially the same issue with 'fitment'.
Anytime you select 'doesn't fit' you're on the hook for shipping, and at the sellers mercy on the return if their listing states no returns. As everyone has noted here, if you chose INAD, (item doesn't match description, item not as described), ebay would force the return at the sellers expense, shipping included.
Been that way for quite a while now, you've been on ebay far too long to not know basic return policy.

Did you actually file an INAD or just talk with CS?
budstar8
OP1 year agoI'll have to research INAD but I've dealt with ebay over 20 yrs and for the last few yrs it's gotten to bad as fb market and graig's list when it comes to dealing with quality items and service.
I've has investigations opened on few buyers, everytime cust serv found no fault on the seller when clearly the listings were fraudulent. It's getting worse and ebay is lining their pockets.
budstar8
OP1 year agook, and I filed wrong item, not inad.
And yes I've had inad denied too.
I don't like to lie but the best way to a refund is damage the item and claim item received damaged.
It's better to buy from amazon

·1 year agoAn INAD is an Item Not As Described case, the kind of case you file when you receive the wrong or defective item.

I hope you come back and tell us which reason from the list posted in the first reply you chose for the return and who told you the seller does not have to refund your money if you return the item?
Since you did open a dispute if you pay the return shipping cost with tracking, and upload the tracking number to the dispute. Once the tracking shows the item was delivered back, the seller will have to refund the price for the item but not the shipping costs you paid.
budstar8
OP1 year agoCust Serv told the seller's refund is pending, restock and can deny refund for other excuses out of my control.
First I'll lose over $20 shipping plus restock fee if the seller accepts the return, if the seller claims damage or misused, even if I know there's nothing wrong with the return, the seller and ebay can pocket the buyer's money while the buyer suffers all loss. "BUYER REMORSE"
Yes, I've been with ebay over 20 years and it's happen to me twice so no I did not return the $89 item. It's better to try and resale it maybe recover some cost.
ebay sucks, amazon is safer

·1 year agoeBay doesn't suck; your reading comprehension could use some work. You could have gotten a refund with free return shipping if you have chosen the appropriate reason ("Received wrong item") for your return request.
budstar8
OP1 year agoThat's 100% **bleep**
I have over 2500 purchases in over 20 yrs anywhere from large equipment to vehicles to tools to home furnishings.
go troll somebody else...

You must have opened the wrong kind of case. Seller would have been required to send you a prepaid return label. Now you will need to contact your card to be reimbursed.
ETA: 2399 FB, member for 25 years. Is this the first time you have ever had an item not as described?
After you contact your card, take the time to read the MBG. This did not have to happen this way.
budstar8
OP1 year agoYes and seller can argue their point in which cust serv usually takes the seller's side when it's a mega seller. It's been my experience and loss in the past.
I sent cust serv evidence and was told, ebay investigation team finds it not covered under ebay money back guarantee that it's buyer remorse. I pay for return shipping, "IF" the seller finds it acceptable I might receive a refund. Again it's heavy bulky item$$$ to ship.

·1 year agoSellers don’t get to argue their point of view when a buyer files a dispute for item significantly not as described: buyer files, seller can either issue a return shipping label and refund upon return or dig their heels, and have eBay force the refund without having the item returned.
Was this an international purchase?

·1 year agoI agree is sounds like you opened a wrong return reason.
Can you provide a eBay listing number of the item sold and explain what you received?
budstar8
OP1 year agoac condenser for 1987 chevy suburban. geekparts description states it fits all 1987 suburbans, but it does't and I sent proof there's 3 different variations.

·1 year agoSounds like you opened the WRONG return reason- which would be 'remorse' and per certain sellers, it would be on you to ship back.
budstar8
OP1 year agoI claimed it as wrong item sent.
It didn't fit my vehicle as the seller's listing for item discription states for 1987 chevy suburban.
Item listing doesn't have exact photos, it's a broken part image out of a repar book. So yeah it looks similar to mine but after removing mine for side by side comparison the fittings are wrong and don't fit for connection.
So seller says his "discription" is good.
Buyer says, "wrong item" it doesn't fit as discribed in seller's listing.

·1 year agoMany MANY times with a 37 yr old vehicle, previous owners have 'replaced/changed' entire parts making the 'stock' part no longer the correct part.
budstar8
OP1 year agoThat's NOT a solution for the ebay money back guarantee for the buyer. As I stated before the seller described it for a suburban and maybe it does but it didn't fit my suburban. I sent photos as proof it's the wrong part.
AGAINA, ebay cust. serv. takes the side of the mega seller and told me it's buyer remorse. Basically, buyer screwd...
I can return it for refund"IF"the seller accepts it. If they don't, I lose $40-$50 return shipping and $89 for the part.
Since the seller and ebay already screwd me for $89 and waste of time, I won't risk gambling with them anymore...
I've already bought the part off amazon and to anybody out there, you can google ebay money back and read the scams, too many for me!
