If you use a desktop browser, many will allow ad blockers that support custom rules. Using the element hiding tool of an ad blocker it is possible to generate such custom rules using a point and click interface to block many page elements.
Of course that is much more work than simply ignoring something or changing a landing page, but if you are sufficiently motivated you can customize your experience as you see fit.
