Ebay listings from other countries ebay site
Hello,
I am a buyer from the United States and I regularly use the Ebay app. I know sellers from other countries can list items on the U.S. site and it will show me as a buyer that the item is international.
Today using the app I found an item I liked, but the listing was in French. The seller is in France and I can't say I've experienced that before. I believe it's just the French Ebay site showing up in my search but I do not know.
Can I purchase the item?
Are there any issues I should be aware of if I purchase the item?

If a seller doesn't ship to your country, you have nothing to lose by asking the seller if they'll make an exception and ship to you in the US. If they agree, they can add your ID to their buyer exemption list.

If you opened a listing from a French seller and checked their feedback or other listings, you were redirected to ebay's France based site, and in your address bar you will see ... ebay.fr to get redirected back to the U.S. site ...ebay.com login the classic way with your username and password using your device's browser.
As for buying from the seller first you would need to go to their Shipping, Returns & Payments tab "Expédition, retours et paiements" click on it and look to see if the seller ships to the U.S.. If they do look for the ebay item number "numéro d'article eBay" in the upper right of the item specifics box.
All of ebay's listings are formatted the same way so the number is where it would be on a U.S. site's listing. Copy the item number then do an advanced search for it by item number, while logged into the U.S. site. If it does not show up the seller does not ship to the U.S.. If it does show up it will be translated into English, ad give a U.S. dollar amount.
The issues with buying from foreign sellers are the same ones you might encounter when buying from a U.S. based seller, and would be handled the same way.

OP2 years agoThank very much. The funny part was is that I am using the eBay app on my phone and I was looking at a U.S. seller and this one popped up at the bottom as a suggestion for a similar item.
