Ebay is turning to Garbage. I hate Amazon, but to Amazon I go.
I have gone back through my reviews, and in the last 12 months 50% have been negative, before that they are rare, and it's the same reasons.
1. Ebay allowing "US Stock" on items that are not...that's fraud. Ebay doesn't care, does nothing about it, removed my negative review, won't cancel the order because seller said it's shipped, then later get tracking showing an "international package tracking was created"...proving it wasn't US stock, proving it still hasn't been shipped. If I wanted to wait weeks and save money I can order from China myself!!!
2. Being sold incorrect or blemished/broken items. I was sold a gpu with the wrong stock photo, I can't use it..no refund. I was sold a "new tire" with "blemish" burned into the side, no refund.
3. Ebay has been ZERO help. They have removed my negative review for the seller that lied, they left a negative mark on the blemished item, but removed all of my words describing it, all while they have done nothing for me. I have been through all of the nasty help loops that take you round and round.
4. I really liked ebay...bad people are not a new phenomenon, but ebay assisting them is, ebay's customer service from India was useless. Ebay is obviously in decline, I have seen people blaming Temu/Alibaba/Amazon, but it's not because they exist, it's because they are BETTER, and Ebay refuses to improve, but instead chooses to get worse.
5. Oh, I have seen, and expect the classic bot responses to this. It's so ironic that ebay won't cut costs by getting rid of the bots out there simping for them in these comment sections, or the worst AI on the planet that they have.
6. Jump ship, get out of dodge, I warned you. Ebay, farewell, I will miss what you once were.

·1 year agoIn many ways Amazon is not much better. Third party sellers have their own shipping/return policies, and unless you verify a product is actually sold by Amazon and subject to Prime benefits, you may be surprised by sale policies. Additionally, Amazon has tightened up restricted sales so some items are not returnable. And I read that buyers who do a lot of returns are blacklisted. ...
The main reason to stay on EBay is the availability of the rare, unique, vintage items that are seemingly available nowhere else. It's a dark art to suss out the small sellers from the scammers (both US and international who pretend to be US sellers). Scammers are getting better at tricking everyone, you and EBay included.
Yers, policies should be tightened up to prevent usage of the tools that facilitate scamming, amongst one potential change. Other things have to change, too.

OP1 year agoIn a global market ebay having 100mill users means growth potential is WAY beyond the shown "peak"...the fact is, ebay's largest shareholders have no competition, they are top owners in Amazon/Target/Walmart even Temu...every top online retailer has the same ownership, meaning there is ZERO motivation for them to improve...as there is no real competition anymore. ·1 year agoTo prove fraud one has to show that the product sent to them was intentionally sent out broken AND there is no recourse to get your money back and be made whole. Ebay offers the MBG to ensure buyers are made whole and the fact that one chooses not to use it negates the transaction as fraud. One could easily argue that getting your money back and keeping the item is fraud if you could prove that was someone's intentions.

When you start purchasing from Amazon, you likely will discover that fraudulent, third-party sellers are selling there as well ... AND that you will be required to return an item in order to get refunded.
I personally haven't found eBay sellers to be more fraudulent than anywhere else ... and I buy online from several different venues. But what do I know? I'm apparently just a 'bot'. 🤔

·1 year ago@d1incharge,
I know you are a very busy person and think that following ebay's procedures for getting refunds, takes up too much of your valuable time, but not using the tools available to to you before buying seems to be why you are having so many problems. In looking at the feedback profiles of some of the sellers you have bought from, I would not have gone any further than their feedback percentage before hitting the back button.
"Ebay allowing "US Stock" on items that are not...that's fraud"
99% of the sellers who use American flag symbols and/or state US Stock or Seller, are based in China. Most drop ship from warehouses located in the U.S. but often they run out of stock and items have to be shipped from China.
Some of those sellers registered their business as being in the U.S. so the country of registry says United States. Because of that I've created a list for myself, to avoid buying from those sellers.

Using ebay's money back guarantee (MBG) does not take up much time, and if a seller asks for a photo, you are not required to post one. Maybe you should read the policy's terms, It definitely does not take 30 days to get a refund.

I don't disagree with some of the points you've made, especially in regards to customer service, which is abysmal at best. I've been on here since 2010, and I've seen a lot of changes I don't like over the years.
I think it would be a fair statement to say that I have no great love for this site, however, I'm fond of many of the sellers I've dealt with here, and have had repeat business with many as well.
For me, I find unique items that aren't available anywhere, with many being unheard of, other than the rare once-in-a-lifetime find before the birth of this site. Ebay has become a leviathan, I don't think anyone can argue that. It's ability to police itself has been diminished by it's growth. But honestly, I've had only 2 or 3 transactions over the years that went sideways. I'm not relying on this site for anything beyond furthering my hobby in most cases, but I have faith in the fact that 99% of the sellers I've dealt with are good people.
d1incharge
OP1 year agoWas 99%, but it's being reduced, that is my point. It's getting worse, nothing stays the same, it either improves or worsens and ebay is falling faster than gravity will allow. I am glad you have a list of good sellers, I like to use ebay for everything I buy online, just not anymore, I over being lied to and stolen from.
natoman777
·1 year agoSo I see you say you haven't gotten your money back? That is odd. As a seller I have had to accept every return and refund every buyer who wants a return no matter what. As a buyer every time I have ordered something that has been trash I have gotten my money back and thrown the trash item away. I learned about 10 years ago to not buy anything that was from China. And if the item was mainly sold by China sellers but available with US sellers it was still junk. Amazon is loaded with junk. Most the junk on eBay is actually from sellers who sell on Amazon as well.
d1incharge
OP1 year agoI have nothing against Chinese crap, I do have problems with ebay allowing sellers to lie about product locations though, because I just hate being lied to, or ripped off. China might sell crap, but they have never lied to me, US sellers do it all of the time, and ebay has their back. I actually went to my credit card company, they refunded my money for me and they are going to do the footwork with ebay, I am over it.

Start by accusing the members here of being bots.. Good idea..
We are sellers and buyers that volunteer our time trying to assist others. Do we agree with all of eBay's policies? NO, of course not but those are what we have to explain to users, that don't understand how they work. It's an effort to help you navigate within the eBay system.
That said; Your feedback left is atrocious.
Yeah, you got bad items, slow deliveries etc... And?
Do you take no ownership for your buying choices?
Do you vet your sellers? People all over the globe list on eBay, good & bad, honest & dishonest, experienced and noobs without a clue.
You KNOW this, it's reflected in your FB but you took not one step to verify those sellers before giving them your money. eBay has the MBG, you will get a refund, if you follow the rules.
You attacked one seller (I don't care if their item was junk) because they said "return for refund". They wanted their item back. That's pretty simple.
You don't get to keep the item and get a refund from a seller that's offering; return for refund.
Go ahead and attack me; I'm a bot, I'm an eBay employee blah blah blah... I've read it all before and that song is old and tired.
You want to go to Amazon? Go ahead. No need to announce that departure.
I will say; Thank you for posting.. And bye bye..

4. I am out full price, I am out 1-2 hours total at this point.
5. You believe I should spend more time, with a seller that obviously committed fraud on purpose, returning a tire that a tire shop won't install? That's because you aren't very smart, and your time is worth nothing. Not one or the other, both.
If there is a case of OBVIOUS fraud by a seller (still illegal here in the US), there should not be a requirement on the buyer to do ANYTHING to get their money back.

·1 year ago@d1incharge I'm talking about the GPU.
You wanted a refund but did not want to return it.
Fraud is covered under the MBG.
eBay can't possibly check every listing.
If you had an issue with a tire, you file an Item Doesn't Match The Listing case.
eBay has the seller send you a label to return, if seller doesn't, you have eBay step in and refund you.
I highly doubt a seller would want a defective tire returned but maybe they would.
Why on earth would you order a tire on eBay? Buy a used tire locally.
Again; YOU must take responsibility for what you are ordering and from whom.
It's YOUR money, be wise & discerning about to whom you give it.

There's no need for any responder to criticize eBay, you do enough of that on your own. The problem with your criticism is that you seem to be uninformed as to how to intelligently use eBay. Most of the responders' replies are attempting to inform you how. And they point out the benefits and positive features of eBay, which you either disregard or are unaware of.
When you do leave eBay, I suggest you don't burn any bridges, such as closing your account. Do it on a trial basis, just take a vacay from eBay for a while. Leave yourself the option to return and resume, if you find out that the others are just as bad, by your considerations.

·1 year agoSellers are entirely responsible for their own item descriptions, not eBay. There are millions of different sellers on eBay of varying quality. If you want to only purchase from the highest quality sellers, you can avoid doing business with sellers that do not meet your standards by looking at seller feedback prior to making a purchase. If you want to avoid sellers that use stock photos, or sellers that are registered in one country and ship from another, you can choose to do that as well.
If an item is not as described, the buyer can file a "not as described" return to return the item at the seller's expense and get a refund. If the seller does not cooperate, ask eBay to step in within the time allowed to force a refund. Then leave appropriate feedback.
Feedback comments left prior to winning a case or feedback comments that violate policy are likely to be removed, so be sure to follow feedback policy.
Most issues can be handled without needing to contact customer service by phone.

Dude, it's ebays website/platform, they are responsible for 100% of what happens on it.
"looking at seller feedback prior to making a purchase"
Did I not explain that I bought from a 100% seller, then my bad review was removed, the seller is still "away" and is obviously part of a new trend of Israel bot sellers that are just fancy bot's that sell amazon stuff and use Aquiline tracking and fully automated responses...which is against policy supposedly, yet ebay has done nothing.
I have looked into this more and realize that Blackrock/Vangaurd/Statestreet are top investors in ALL top online retailers...meaning I have found the reason for lower quality customer service and product quality. This trend has hit automakers, diesel engine makers, food...they are monopolizing all industries and turning everything to garbage for short term gains, but when you are as big as they are and own as much as they do, there is no fighting or beating it...I will just have to take the L and prepare for declining quality/customer service in most things. I have a theory that if I avoid anything from those investment firms...such as Toyota or Kubota I will have better experience, I just wish that the obviously morally superior japanese had a US online retailer...

Im not a bot, there are no bot responses on the boards, so Ill respond. Every buyer is protected by Ebays thirty day money back guarantee, one of the most stringent on the net. And very easy to facilitate.Im not sure why your case was closed? Looking at the feedback you leave, have you lost your buyer protection with too many cases opened? Or did you try to file past the thirty day time frame?
As far as you being unable to tell when your item comes from China, thats a simple fix too. Just go to your items page, and check the shipping details, that will tell you where the item is actually being shipped from.
Unfortunately, you cannot cancel an item that is in shipment, according to tracking, if you dont get the item a day or two past the estimated delivery date, then just open an item not received case. If the seller doesnt respond to you, on the fourth day you can ask Ebay to step in and they will refund you. It doesnt take 'weeks and weeks'. Good luck.
