eBay is Removing BAD Reviews and Embellishing Sellers Ratings
I had a Feeling eBay was going to Remove my Review- It's Not the 1st Time.
I'd also like to point out that the Seller asked me to leave a Good Review without Mentioning the Refund!
"We are sorry these did not fit your vehicle.
We will issue a refund right away and you do not need to return them back to us.
We hope you are satisfied with our service and are able to leave positive feedback with no mention of the refund.
Thank you and again we apologize for any inconvenience."
"We refunded for the entire purchase price.
We do not charge for shipping, as stated in our listing.
Any other fees would need to be taken up with ebay directly.
I apologize for any inconvenience."

·2 years agoDid you know that the S40 has a 4 lug and 5 lug option, and the pads are different? That lug is your car?
bearlover69
OP2 years agoYes, I'm aware there are 5 lug and 4 lug rims.
you claim the Pads are Different - I'm Not Disagreeing.
What does it matter if I have 5 or 4 lug Rims?
Please continue with your point.

·2 years agoMy point is what I said: what is your car?
Either way, it looks to be an honest mistake and also looks like the seller took care of you in the best way possible.
By the way; you can get pads for that car for about the same price at 100 other places.
bearlover69
OP2 years agoThe Seller took care of themself and eBay in the Best Way Possible.
If he wanted to take care of me the Best Way Possible - they would have told me to Open a Return- Instead of Slamming the Door.
bearlover69
OP2 years agoIf you know of a Hundred Places to find the Brake Pads for my Car @ the same cost...
maybe you can name- Just 1 or 2?
wastingtime101
·2 years agoThe seller did not have to refund you. This part was sold through eIS (eBay International Shipping) which means eIS would have covered the refund had the seller not volunteered it.
Your feedback was kind of misleading when you said the seller did not give you a full refund. The seller refunded you in full the money they received. The international shipping you paid is money the seller never saw and had no ability to refund.
If your beef is with that ship cost in the form of a site credit with an expiration date, that's something to take up with eBay.
bearlover69
OP2 years agoThe Seller did Not Volunteer the eIS..
You guys are enough to make a person, Rip Out All their Hair - and end up in a Nuthouse!
And I could have got Brake Pads in this Country, but I wanted to pay the Cheaper Price- Was that really the Issue?
I guess if you can't say the Truth - without saying something Bad, You can't say anything at all.
wastingtime101
·2 years agoI'm not sure what "volunteer the eIS" means. You said in your first post that the seller sent the refund voluntarily with no need for you to return anything. Is that not what happened?

·2 years agoYou are really aiming your anger at the wrong person. @wastingtime101 Isn’t trying to argue but trying to understand what happened.
wastingtime101
·2 years agoYou are correct @pjcdn2005 . I am trying to help and in order to do that we need to know what happened.
If we could understand what happened exactly then we could help the buyer with any potential recourse or steps dealing with eBay CS to get a refund. And if that's not possible then at minimum we could determine what happened to help the buyer avoid a repeat situation.
I agree with the assessment that buyer contacted seller and seller voluntarily refunded in full through "send refund". If it was done through a cancellation eBay would have refunded the international ship cost automatically.
If the buyer prefers to take their anger out on us I'm happy to exit stage left and let them be angry instead of find a solution. It's not my money. 🤷
bearlover69
OP2 years agoYou stated the Seller Volunteered to Refund the eIS - No they did not.
The Seller said they sent a Refund. YES, they Volunteered to send a "Partial Refund" in my Opinion.
The Seller Initiated the Refund - and I was Left in the Cold for the eIS, because they Slammed the Door Shut on me.
The Comment wasn't meant to be taken Personally
I thought this was Explained fairly well.
Yet the other Participant in this Conversation, whom has "Nothing to Loose", seems to think - Because a Seller has a Listing that says "Buyer Pays for Return Shipping" that it is MY Mistake or Responsibility to Make it Right - by Mixing Up a Few Words-saying "Doesn't Fit", is BUYERS REMORSE!
The Most REDICULOUS Statement I've seen yet!

I didnt say 'doesnt fit' is a remorse return, Ebay did.
eBay; Yes, does not fit is a remorse return. If you have a no returns policy you will have a choice to accept (buyer paid) or decline. If you have a buyer pays returns policy and you accept the buyer will pay for return shipping.

·2 years ago@bearlover69
The seller unintentionally caused the problem because when you contacted them they should have told you to open a return rather than refunding you. If a return had been opened first eBay would have refunded you in full because it was sent through the eBay international shipping program (EIS). They may have required you to send the item to them but they would have paid for return shipping. Imo since seller did refund you the portion that he received from you, eBay should still refund the international shipping to you so that you are made whole. I don’t think that giving you a coupon is the same as being refunded.
As far as the feedback being removed, eBay does usually do that when the EIS is involved. In reality, it isn’t the seller who owes you the money, it’s eBay who owes it so the seller should not be the one receiving bad feedback. I’m not that familiar with the guaranteed fit program but it’s possible that eBay is at wrong there since their chart showed the part would fit.
bearlover69
OP2 years agoYES!
Exactly right, the Seller should have advised me to Open a Return for "Not as Described" - But they had taken it upon themself, to Issue the Partial Refund- Blocking My Ability to Open a Return.
I though I was being Respectful by contacting the Seller to see if we could come to an Amicable Solution to the Problem... I guess that was MY Downfall.
I didn't like the Seller's Request, that I Leave Positive Feedback, and Requested that I be Deceptive - and Not Mention Anything about the Refund!
When I reviewed the Video for the "Fitment Guarantee" it says "Return and Full Refund".
That is what the Seller should have advised me to do; Perhaps, eBay would have Honored their "Guarantee".
The "Fitment Charts" leave a Lot to be Desired- as I've seen FREQUENTLY; Parts that Do Not Fit my Vehicles, yet it says they do.
Most Often, I point it out to Sellers - and I Do Not Buy; Yet; Despite My Efforts to Circumvent another "Mistake" - Sellers, Completely Disregard my Warnings and Continue with their Listings- which is also the case with this Seller. It's Entirely Possible, this very "Mistake" could have happened Many Times Before. Removing My Feedback; Removed my "Buyer Beware Warning".
By leaving my Feedback, I don't think I was being Vindictive; That is what happened in this Transaction- and my Review was TRUTHFUL in my Opinion. The Seller could have made Clarification in the Feedback Reply, could they not have?
I stand by my Statement: eBay is Removing BAD Reviews, and Embellishing Sellers Ratings.
I've Said before: eBay "Used to be my #1 Store" - Now it's an "Only if I can't store".
In this case- "Only if I can't get them for a Better Price"
Turns out I end up Paying More - because the Limited Time Coupon is Expiring - and I Won't be Forced - to Buy something on eBay!
The Seller Lost Money
I Lost Money
eBay is the Victor of a Misleading Advertisement- their "Faulty Fitment Chart".
femmefan1946
·2 years agoYou got the brake pads that"do not fit" and a refund.
So now you have a set of brake pads that "do not fit" and your money back.
If they really do not fit, advertise them for sale on eBay Canada where they must be hard to find since you needed to import them.
Or FaceBook Marketplace for cash since becoming a seller takes time on eBay.
Most Americans are sort of clueless about international shipping. The seller probably thought he did give you a full refund, a refund of all the money he was paid.
Any import charges you should take up with CBSA. Check the blue bin before the garbage pickup for the paperwork, the CBSA necessaries are on the back.
bearlover69
OP2 years agoWhat I got was a Set of Brake Pads that did Not Fit.
Not As Described-
Along with a Partial Refund, from the Seller
and a Limited Time Coupon- which Expires tomorrow for the Shipping Charges from eBay.
Now you think I should try to Mitigate my Losses because I bought an item Not as Described- and I should have to take the time to try and re-sell that item, to someone else.
How should I market them... the same way and say they fit any car?
Nothing to say about the "Fitment Chart Guarantee" Or is this for the Refund of the Item only as well?
soh.maryl
·2 years agoPer eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers, all that you needed to do was to open an item not as described case. The seller would have been required to send you a prepaid return label and to refund in total when the item was received back to him.
ittybitnot
·2 years agoThe seller would have been required to send you a prepaid return label and to refund in total when the item was received back to him.
@soh.maryl
Not this time. It was an EIS sale. eBay is supposed to handle the whole thing, but it was thwarted because the seller refunded anyway????? What a mess!
bearlover69
OP2 years agoFor some reason, I doubt this "Mess", is the 1st by this Seller - and I Suspect, it Won't be the Last!

The seller proactively refunded without requiring a return. I'll bet that seller thought the buyer's international shipping would be refunded automatically by eBay. Actually, the seller has to jump through hoops to even see the buyer paid international ship costs because they're not shown on the order details page so the seller may not have even thought about it. From their end they refunded in full. I'm sure the seller had no idea it would create an issue with international ship costs. I'd wager most sellers would have no idea.
All that said, I spotted this in the MBG last week and thought of this thread. It took me several days to find the time to locate this thread again.
https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy?id=4210#section9
Apparently sending a site credit voucher for the ship cost is right there in eBay's policy. I would, however, be very interested to know what kind of expiration date eBay put on the OP's credit. From what was said, it sounds like it was valid for only a week?
OP's screenshot shows refund issued Jan 31, then OP posted here Feb 5 saying credit for eIS shipping was expiring next day. If eBay is going to issue site credit in situations where they cannot issue a refund then, in my opinion, that credit should be good for a minimum of 30 days, if not longer.
Also of note: I've seen eBay do a lot of eIS return shipping label refunds through PayPal (buyer pays return ship upfront and eBay reimburses through PayPal), so if the OP had paid with PayPal it's possible they would have been able to get a refund that way instead of a site credit? That is pure speculation based on other anecdotal evidence. We have no idea what went on between the buyer and customer service on this one.

OP2 years agoNor does the Listing say Free Shipping

Sad, Liars are the Victors and eBay is a Participant
bonjourami
·2 years agoThe free shipping is for domestic, you are in Canada, you were charged $10.93 for shipping.
bonjourami
·2 years agoIf you used doesnt fit as a reason for the return, that is a remorse return, and the buyer is responsible for shipping. And your feedback was removed because a remorse return is at the sellers discretion,he didnt have to refund you.
bearlover69
OP2 years agoI didn't iniate any return

I contacted the Seller whom initiated the Return.
Because they initiated the Return, I in turn was not able to open a claim.
They sure knew how to Play the System.
How can it be Buyers Remorse when the "Fitment Chart" claims they do fit?
What about that "Guarantee"!

·2 years agoEven tho the seller refunded you without you opening a case, doesnt fit is a remorse return, and the buyer is responsible for shipping.

OP2 years agoThe Seller made the Claim, Not me.
With all Due Respect, it was a Not as Described Claim..
I guess it depends if you want to be an Honest Seller or a Crook-
They Played the System Perfectly!

·2 years agoSorry but doesnt fit is a not as described claim. I think that fb you left was very unfair, and am glad Ebay removed it.
broto_64
·2 years agoSo the seller issued you a full refund and allowed you to keep the item, is that correct?
I work on my own vehicles in addition to certain equipment I own, and yes it is annoying to receive parts that either don't work or don't fit. Very annoying, especially when I have already taken the machine apart...
Which is why and how I learned, always visually ensure fitment and confirm compatibility before tearing into the machine. That doesn't always save me, but ultimately if a seller is willing to cooperate and issue me a refund, I'm good with that...
One other thing I've learned is to pay close attention to who pays for the return when ordering (and before paying).
stainlessenginecovers
·2 years agoSeller did NOT initiate a return. They simply apologized and refunded you and you rewarded them with a scathing review trying to destroy their business.
Nice.

·2 years agoI don't know if it's different in the States but a while back on the UK forum there were a lot of part sellers complaining about "doesn't fit". Apparently things had changed and in car parts with their "guaranteed fit", "doesn't fit" was no longer a change of mind/remorse return but came under not as described. Which considering the "guaranteed fit" made sense.
Whether that change still remains in the UK, or perhaps was a test that may have been rolled out everywhere I don't know.
bearlover69
OP2 years agoIf someone asks what is Wrong with the item.. in this case it's Brake Pads-
Wouldn't you think it's Acceptable to say they "Don't fit" / They are Too Small.
Brake Pads are Specific for Vehicles.
How can this really be a Buyers Remorse when I Buy Something that is Supposed to Fit and a Seller Sends Something that Does Not Fit?
Especially when eBay is stating with their "Fitment Chart", that they do?
Mixing Up Terms - is Really Petty!
The Problem was - They didn't Fit
They were Too Small....
Gosh, I guess it's a Good Reason to leave eBay if they have Sellers that are Taking Advantage of Customers for Petti Reasons, and "Playing the System"!
And it seems to me - it was played quite well.
So who pays for the Return Shipping if the Seller has an Item that is Not as Described and it's sent back...
Does eBay Absorb the Whole Loss?
How many times can a Seller do this?
bonjourami
·2 years agoAll you had to do was file an item not as described case. Meaning the item was promised to fit and it didnt. In a not as described case, the seller pays the return shipping. Not sure what you mean by how many times a seller can do this? if a seller has had too many item not as described cases opened against him, he will be on Ebays radar for suspension. Remorse returns dont count.
bearlover69
OP2 years agoAlso asked me to leave Positive Feedback - and Not to Mention the Refund!
I was trying to be "Respectful" by "Contacting the Seller 1st"- Letting them know, there was a Problem. To See if there was an Amicable Solution.
I've seen COUNTLESS Listings, where the Seller asks "Please Contact US 1st" if there's a Problem - before Opening a Case" and the "We'll Make it Right" Phrase!
I've seen-Numerous Comments from Sellers whom say "You didn't contact us 1st to Make it Right....
THIS WAS THIS SELLER'S BIG CHANCE and they TRIPPED and FUMBLED TERRIBLY !
I Think I Know Why = Now!
I also did a Search of the Sellers 4 Additional Brake Pads Listings, that are supposed to fit my car. I let them know; I thought they too were Incorrect. - I thought I was Being COURTIOUS!
I thought if they REALLY Wanted to "Make it Right" they might Offer A Replacement. NOT!
They still have them listed, for the same vehicle?
take Note of the "Breath Easy Returns" Claim!
These were the 1st 2 messages to the Seller:
Hello My Friend,
I have just got this order today.
I ordered a Set of Pads for the Read of My Car - 2009 Volvo 40 <a>2.4l.<;/a>
The "Fitment Chart" said these fit my car... but they are much smaller."
I believe it's possible that you have this part listed for the wrong year.
These do not fit my 2009 Volvo S40 2.4L
I believe they fit: 00 - 04 Volvo S40 which has smaller pads in the rear than the front- as shown in this sellers listing (Pic)
These pads are too small for my 2009 Volvo S40 2.4L as indicated in the fitment chart.
Can you please offer a Return Shipping Label?
I think I was also being TOTALLY HONEST in My Review.
eBay's Policies or Not ...
If someone considers it a Scathing Review.. they should put the Shoe - on the Buyer's Foot!
No Good Deed has Gone UnPUNISHED!
If the Seller has Learned Nothing from this, they are Destined to Repeat the Same Mistakes.
broto_64
·2 years agoOk bearlover, I think I have a clearer understanding now...
It is equally frustrating to me, for a simple mistake in the reason I chose...
Or because I contacted the seller first and they made a choice for me...
All these things amount to lessons learned.
However, other marketplaces and venues are not really much better in how they treat their customers. It's all AI powered anymore, nothing but robots and "customer NO service" help pages and so on... And one wrong click on our end (or the seller makes a mistake whether honest or otherwise) and we as buyers get the shaft.
Best I can tell you, is I learned how it works by making mistakes.
No business will help you if you mix up anything in the returns / refund process, it's not like it was back in the old days when a human being behind the counter would listen to us and make a determination.
In ways it's easier now, just a series of mouse clicks and you can have sellers completely obligated to refund you, in full, shipping too, and no questions asked.
But for that to work I had to learn the system.
And no matter what, which venue, every last vendor on the web has a system and no two are exactly the same. So learn one, any one, and stick with it.

·2 years agoThe eBay Blues have previously intimated that if we mention the outcome of an eBay action, then the feedback will be removed. This is done to prevent abuse.
