Ebay is not the company it once was. They do not protect the buyer anymore.
Ebay purposely avoids live calls now. VM always says "You are calling outside of normal business hours" no matter what time you call. Not all issues are black and white, some are gray and need explanations, especially with all the scamming going on. I no longer will use Ebay and PayPal. Both protect the seller and place the burden of proof on the buyer.

This statement is absolutely not true. eBay has a buyer's back 99% of the time so if you lost money on a transaction, it would be helpful if you would give us some details of your problem so we would know what is going on and be able to discuss it with you. You will get better and more accurate answers here than you would with eBay's customer service as they are known for telling a caller what they want to hear (rather than the facts) just to get the caller off the phone.
If you are still within the 30 day limit to take advantage of eBay's Money Back Guarantee, hopefully you will do so. If it has been longer than 30 days, you might try filing a claim with your payment source (credit card); they usually allow up to 180 days to file claims.

·8 months ago@suncoastracquetball apparently you've never purchased from a 3rd party seller on Amazon, which is 70% of the items sold there; where you get NO customer service.

·8 months agoI don't see anything bought on this account more than a year ago.
And 60% of Amazon sellers are just like sellers on eBay and in fact some sellers have an account of eBay and Amazon selling the same item.

·8 months agoJust wait until you have an issue with AtoZ that doesn't fit into one of their categories, then you will see how great their service is! When you request a 'live' call from them, it's just a 'bot that calls - if you don't respond with the right word, they start their script again until you get fed up and hang up.
Plus, they rip off subscribers to some of their services, but that's another story that won't be discussed here on an eBay provided forum.
Have fun there 🤓

·8 months agoIt is nearly impossible for a buyer to be out their money on ebay without catastrophic user error.
The rules are purposefully rigged in your favor.
...and what number are you using to call ebay?

·8 months agoYou need to go through the chat box and have Ebay call you back. If you are calling a direct number then that would be correct they won't answer that. Ebay gives a 30 day money back guarantee for purchases. So if you have an issue within 30 days they have your back. Do you have a specific issue on a purchase or are you trying to report scamming? Ebay and this community of your peers already knows about scamming. You just have to be careful about which seller you choose to purchase from.

There is no number for calling ebay directly any of the ones you found by looking up an ebay customer service number online, is probably run by people phishing for your info or outright scammers. ebay's customer service hours are 5am to 9pm Pacific time.
Using the Contact us option at the bottom right of this page under the Help & Contact header, can result in a call back, but the reps who respond to them work for a 3rd party Call center, and they can't help with many issues sometimes giving out misleading info.
If you are having an issue with a transaction post about it here. give us the relevant details but you cannot name the seller. We are not ebay employees but very experienced buyers and sellers who know ebay's policies and some work arounds.

·8 months agoSorry to hear that you've had a bad experience as an eBay buyer. If you would like to return here and give us the details of your issue, we may be able to offer some suggestions to help solve your problem.
Almost everything on eBay is automated now, without anyone having to speak with a CS rep. This Board is made up of many, many experienced buyers and sellers with extensive eBay knowledge.
BTW, many sellers here are rolling their eyes at your suggestion that eBay favors sellers over buyers. Per the Money Back Guarantee, buyers are much better protected than sellers should an issue arise.
Hope you will return and give us a chance to offer suggestions or advice.
