EBAY had become way too difficult
Summary: The discussion revolves around a collective experience from multiple participants expressing concerns that eBay has become increasingly difficult to navigate. Although no specific details or complaints are provided in the conversation, the repeated engagement from different author_ids suggests a shared sentiment or common challenge encountered by users on the platform. This implies a perceived complexity or frustration influencing their experience with eBay.
I am a buyer, not a seller. Logging on to ebay is tedious and tiresome and a total pain in the ***. I very rarely buy anything on ebay anymore as a result. EBAY HAS BECOME WAY TOO DIFFICULT TO USE.

·4 months agoOnline shopping isn't for everyone, it does require a basic knowledge of modern technology. If you find ebay is too difficult to use, you can always shop at your local brick and mortar establishments instead. I am sure your local business owners would appreciate it. Flea markets, antique stores, and resale shops still exist and you have the bonus of being able to physically examine what you are buying before you hand over your hard earned nickels.
Of course, that won't stop modern technology from appearing everywhere else in the world.

Yes, 100%. As I said in my comments the vast majority of these sellers with item description and/or poor packing issues are TRS's
Many have 100's or 1000's of positive reviews with no mention of issues noted. 100% ratings.
I am assured of amazing packaging, but the packaging is sometimes illogical and useless.
I am assured of a quality & condition level that is easily & quickly realized as inaccurate.
The problem is that the shipping damage is never quite so severe nor the item description never quite so all encompassing (i.e. buy a lot of 5, 1 out of 5 is obviously garbage and should/could have easily been noticed and disclosed) that it warrants a return. You cut your losses because it's not worth it. But it is a loss. And your time/trouble.
I might add that some of these TRS's don't even reply to a reasoned message raising the concerns I have raised. I offer my concern. No reply. Wait one week & offer a reasoned concern a 2nd time, no reply.
I honestly think the issues arise from eclectic sellers that really don't understand a lot of the product they are selling. I don't think it's malicious or willful packing neglect or item condition disclosures.
I think it's ignorance of the physical needs/properties of the merchandise.
However, as a seller if you sell it, you own it. IMHO.

·4 months agoI don't think a seller has to understand all of their products per se. It should be common sense that you describe things correctly. Sometimes we all overlook something. In your example, if I am selling a lot of 5 widgets and there is clearly one widget out of the five that has worse "used" damage to the package, etc, then I'm going to point that out and make sure I have photos of it.
The same goes for packing. I partually blame YouTubers and TikTokers for some of the poor packing jobs sellers do. I have seen even some well-known YouTubers pack breakable items with one layer of bubble wrap, and just kind of lay it around the item, rather then even tuck it up under it. Then toss it in the box with a little filler and send it out. If you read the comments on those videos, you'll see a whole string of ignornant sellers thanking them for showing them how to pack that widget. Sure, maybe 70% of the time the widget makes it there just fine. If a high volume seller is happy refunding 30% of those orders, fine. That's poor advice for casual sellers or ones just starting out.

·4 months agoSeriously?? Seems to me, I'm finding it much more difficult trying to log in confirmation for certain medical appointments than jumping on ebay to search or buy.

·4 months agoIt took me longer to read your first sentence that it ever takes me to log in...and it would have been waayyy toooo tedious to read your next sentences...
How does you log in work..or not work?

·4 months agoI find eBay no more difficult to use than any other site that I have an account with. I use a VPN and never stay logged in to any site. Cookies are dumped on a regular basis.
My Email is more of a hassel than eBay as far as logging in goes.
A few clicks and I'm in.................................

·4 months agoWhat I am finding increasingly difficult as a buyer is experiencing a transaction with a 100% success rate.
By this I mean:
1. Item as described
2. Item packed properly
Pretty simple stuff.
And a lot of these issues are occurring with TRS's & not new sellers.
As a buyer, I am experiencing a 50% success rate meeting the aforementioned basic criteria.
That's a lot of settling and mitigating my losses. A lot of extra work and effort.
As a seller, this is somewhat disconcerting because these issues have a negative impact on how all sellers are perceived on this platform. We may be independent sellers but, right or wrong, we are judged by the consumer's overall experience on the platform.
This did not happen to me a number of years ago. Ever.
As a seller, I take a great deal of pride & effort in a good customer experience (as do many on this site).
As a buyer, I should have a good experience. I should not have to work for it. Call me old-fashioned.
Just one opinion.

·4 months agoTotal agreement @pastimpressions . For the overall experience much of the problems are caused by little nuisance(s) that impede both the the selling and buying experience. When they become cumulative it tends to discourage users from being a returning party or even referring a friend. I used to routinely buy off eBay and refer friends.... to give it a shot. Not now as likely to going forward. Sad, but the way it is!!
From a longtime sellers experience now it is all about adapting to eBay's constant tinkering.....For me that means finding workaround(s) for a multitude of tasks that used to be very straight forward. (As for what I am doing as a seller, I am trying to be as consistent with procedures to keep my customers happy (mostly because of eBay criteria that is mostly out of my control) while still hoping/trying/praying/attempting to make some sort of profit from each transaction.
Biggest wish? eBay to the concept of combined shipping for buyers less of a frustration. Hey...One can dream!!!

·4 months agoI don't disagree with you based on what I read here and my friend who is at a 50% successful transaction rate out of their last 10 orders. Today I was telling them about the possible changes in shipping. They are hoping it will put a stop to sellers charging $18 shipping for a $5 item that weighs 8oz. I've tried to explain the total cost perspective, but they keep coming back to the idea that eBay should limit how much extra sellers can charge for fees and supplies. I disagree with them there. Anyway, I took the long road to ask if you read the seller's feedback before buying to see if anybody else is having those type of issues.
While feedback is subjective and may not give a complete picture, someone who is routinely not describing things properly, not sending orders or not packing well, should have some feedback that alerts buyers these things are a problem.

·4 months agoI have no issue logging into Ebay and purchasing items. Things are done within seconds. You must be doing something different like others pointed out with needing to log in all the time. You could save your password.

·4 months agoMost major internet sites have adopted processes at login to protect people who use that site.
The internet is built on Arpanet, which was built by the Department of Defense, and never was used by DOD for any military purpose because it had inadequate security.
It became the basis for the internet because no royalties needed to be paid, and a constant set of contortions have been developed to try to graft on security. The folks at DOD and network experts of that day knew you could not graft on security. All of these techniques eventually fail, hence the increased hassle to try to keep up.
The end is near. All of those data centers for AI will make enough computing power available to break all of the encryption algorithms in use today. No one is talking about the fact that encryption is only effective when available computer power is limited.
The original Data Encryption Standard was breakable only by the NSA and KGB and the mafia. No one else had enough computing power to break it. It was designed to be breakable by the NSA, KGB and the mafia.

·4 months agoHi @swtr-59
I’m also a buyer … not a seller. I haven’t found eBay to be more tedious to log in to than any other site … so I don’t understand the point you’re making.
What specifically are you having difficulty doing on eBay? We’re here to help.

·4 months agoI’m not sure I understand.
You don’t have to log in to browse, but it helps because you can save your settings and history. I just leave my account logged in, and I have my password saved if needed.
If it’s regularly making you sign in again, and you aren’t intending that to be required, check your browser settings to make sure it’s not deleting your cookies and site data.

·4 months agoSo, you are not saving your passwords or saving to Favorites or are you using 2-part login? I don't use 2 part and haven't had any issues. I click on eBay in my saved list or where I keep it in the header, it opens and I shop or search without logging in each time. Only sometimes do I need to prove it's me to see some pages like my account info.
