eBay does not show some listings that have recently been sold
Hello everyone,
I felt the need to re-look at some of the details in the descriptions of these items, or for example the history of bids in which I personally took part, but did not win these lots. But when you go to these previously saved links like https://www.ebay.com/itm/296094222395, the links are automatically converted to another form: https://www.ebay.com/p/1226248172?iid=296094222395, and there there is nothing except “CURRENTLY SOLD OUT†and a couple of meager lines of specification (see screenshot). How can I explain why I can't see some listings just hours or days after the auction ends? The https://www.ebay.com/itm/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx format no longer works for this (Opera browser, Windows 10).

·2 years ago@sungr-0, your earlier post is the third message in this thread. It is still there, there's no problem. You can scroll up to find it, or you can click on the number here: "Message 3 of 14".
eBay would rather show you an item that is actually for sale than one that isn’t. But, you can still see the original listing. There is a link on each page that will tell you that you can go to the original, ended listing.

OP2 years agoThanks, but I don't use the eBay mobile app. However, trust me, I checked all the available links in the desktop browser before creating the conversation. The only effective method is to add "nordt=true" to the link, as recommended by @lacemaker3.

Since you can see the item number in your posted links for example 296094222395
Look at the top of your screen shot at the main search bar. To the right of the blue Search button, on an eBay page, click on Advanced.
On the Advanced search page that opens enter the item number into the "keywords or item number" box.
Below that check the sold items box. Then click on the blue search button just above that.
This would be the result you will see

I can't answer that question, because I was as surprised as you were, to find I was sent to the same type box with only similar products, but nothing about the specific auction when I clicked on the Sold item link for the listing.
Then I did an advanced search in a different category of sold items but all of the results could be opened to see the original listing and bid history, and they all worked. After that I checked some of the seller's other ended auctions and they all opened so the bid histories could be viewed.
Now the only reason I can come up with to explain why those links are not opening is because of a glitch in the specific category or something in the listing is causing the listings to disappear.

OP2 years agoIt didn't work for me. But adding "?nordt=true" to the link address, as recommended by @lacemaker3, helped me. Thanks to him for this.

You can view that listing by adding a no-redirect HTML code (?nordt=true) to the end of the URL, after the item number.

Neither of your methods worked for me, in this particular case. I had to add the no-redirect code to the URL to get to the listing.

I know my methods failed, but I did several searches using the OP's 2 item numbers, Advanced sold items, By Seller sold items. Then switched categories and items and opened 2 auctions I won the other night from my purchase history, then Advanced sold items, Then advanced by seller listings, and they all worked.
So why does it seem only those two auctions for "Probes" had to have the HTML no redirect added? I have not run into that situation before.
Is it a top secret alien exclusion thing?

Those two items were listed from the eBay catalog. I frequently get redirected to other listings for the same item (linked to the same catalog page) when I click on a closed listing that was linked to a catalog page. I don't think this is restricted to only certain categories.
In this case, it appears that there are no other listings active at the moment, so the catalog page for that item is sold out. I think that's why it isn't suggesting another active listing in this case.
I'm used to seeing the blue banner at the top with clickable link "View original item" as @powell-memorabilia showed. Maybe that banner isn't there because the page got redirected all the way back to the out-of-stock catalog page.
Personally, I don't like the eBay catalog pages because they are far too inaccurate to be useful. They apparently used machine learning to create them, but did not do any error-checking at all, so many of the catalog pages used consolidated data from similar-but-not-the-same listings that should not have been consolidated. Human intervention would have been needed to resolve the inconsistencies and correct the errors, but it didn't happen.
