EBay Customer Support
I am just curious.. It is Tuesday, February 17th at 1:04 PM, Eastern Standard Time. I tried calling eBay customer service and keep getting the message that this is not within their working hours.
Ebay has always been very, very difficult to get hold of. Are they at it again? They are simply refusing to answer the phones?

Since the beginning of covid ebay has not had a direct phone line to customer service. Therefore any number you find online will be to fake reps who may be trying to steal your info.
You can scroll to the bottom of this page look under the Help & Contact header, for the contact us button. From there you can chat or request a call back to speak to a rep. However, depending on what your problem is, they may be little or no help, since they work at a hired 3rd party Call/Chat center and have to read canned answers from a play book.
If you post the basics of your issue here we can probably help you. Many issues do not require contacting anyone, they are handled more or less automatically. The link below to their Money Back Guarantee will get you started. However, if this is an issue where tracking showed you received something, but nothing was delivered, that's a problem that has to be dealt with differently.

OP6 months agoNope. It was a current number. Typical automated **bleep**. I kept requesting and agent and it finally said no agents are available because it is not in normal working hours.
If eBay doesn't have voice contact I'll be closing my account. That happened during Covid. I won't deal with it again.

·6 months agoYou can request a callback from the chatbot. They will call you. You probably called an outdated number.

·6 months agoNo, it wasn't a current number. EBay has no dial-in support number; they haven't had one since Covid. You have to request a call back through the Help & Contact link at the bottom of this page. Whatever number you called wasn't eBay, despite what Google may have told you.

OP6 months agoGoogle didn't tell me anything. It was a number I have had in my phone since way before Covid. Try 866-540-3229.

·6 months ago@ziggy2048 if anything; that is an 'old' ebay number that they have that recording all hours/minutes/seconds of every week, every month, every year since 2020 Covid, reported here for years.
But..... I heard if you try between 9:00pm and 11:00pm every other Wednesday, the janitor MIGHT pick up.

OP6 months agoCustomer service did call back and confirmed it was a good number. Also confirmed that others are getting the same response. She did say the best way was requesting a callback in chat.

·6 months agoNo one will ever get a different response by calling that number because it does not accept inbound calls. You’re fortunate that you did not call a scammer, but it is an outdated number for calling customer support, because there is no incoming number for you to use to call eBay. You must go through the website and request a callback or chat.
I'd recommend you ask your question here! Many times, the volunteers on this board can provide better assistance if it doesn't require direct access to your account!

Ebay Customer Service does not have a direct phone line because the agents are each working in different locations.
