Ebay Categories that Doesn't exist anymore or Lost
Has anyone noticed that Categories have gotten much smaller and Not accurate recently? For example, when searching for Diecast Cars or Diecast anything, just not listed under categories. Follow the photos: 1. Under Categories/Toys & Hobbies. 2. Diecast and Slot Cars. 3. you end up in 'HO Scale Slot Cars'. mm? what happended to Diecast Cars/Toys? This is the chain: ebay > Toys & Hobbies > Slot Cars > HO Scale. AND when I upload my screen shots, Ebay prevented me to do that!! "Uploading Ebay **bleep** 1.jpg resulted in the following error: Unable to Save Image."
Same thing happens when you search for any of these Topics: Ham Radio, Amatuer Radio, Scanners, Communications. It's a shame Ebay prevents me to upload photos. (the photo file size is quite small, so it's not a size problem). Ebay, "Just gets better and better with age!"

·5 months agoMight not be related. But the last few days there seems to be a shift in what results you get with a search.
when I search for an Item, I now get a long list of irrelevant listings.
It’s almost as though eBay has ignored the search criteria
this is now making it extremely difficult and time consuming.
combine that with the seller changes, simple delivery, buyers fee.
I think this is the worst ebay experience for over 20 years.

I guess I misunderstood what you were asking. Diecast cars is a huge category over 1,000,000 results in the general search Diecast cars > Toys & Hobbies.
Starting by refining your search to specific scales ( 1:64, 1:43, 1:32... ) drops the number of results appreciably. On those pages in the left hand column there are further filters You can use such as Mfr's Brand name > Johnny Lightning, Auto World, Hot Wheels... etc.
Vehicle make Chevy, Ford.... etc. and even specific models within the Make > Corvette, Mustang, Charger... etc.
I do not search for diecast vehicles often but when I do I usually have specific items, MFR., scale in mind. Ex: Jada, 1/24, Hollywood Rides, 1966 TV, Batmobile.
Of course the more specific the search the more one has to rely on the seller's item title having the info in it. There were 10 distinct live action Batmobiles made between TV and the Movies, and many of the result Titles only have Batmobile in the title. However That search only returns 116 items to look through.

OP5 months agoWhy change it after 27 years?! Fact is, (3rd time I'm mentioning this), someone who is looking for Toys/Diecast, from the First title screen of ebay Can't find Diecast anything from the Categories, It's a Mistake. Simply put back the categories of Diecast back in the General listing for Categories.

I too have had trouble up loading screen shots. However, when doing your search. Diecast cars > Toys & Hobbies a prefilled list will open under the search box, The list includes scales, and some specialty or brand named items. But NO slot cars.
If you do a search for diecast slot cars, since most are made in 1:64 scale they will show in the search results as HO.
HO diecast slot cars > Toys and hobbies or All categories returns 182 results but there are some accessories mixed in with the cars.

As far as I know there are only 4 companies that made/make 1:64/HO diecast slot cars, Auto World, Johnny Lightning and Aurora who made a Cigar box series of diecast slot cars back in the day. Tyco Magnum series from back in the 1990s.

OP5 months agoHi, I understand that, my point was that ebay categories was much larger and a much better selection. I know the diecast toy categories are there. But you need to do a search etc. You can't just simply pull down the Category/Toys/Diecast etc. When you do as I stated you go right to the Slot cars. Slot cars are not considered the typical Diecast cars/toy, such as Matchbox, Hotwheels, etc.
