This unhelpful error message seems to pop up for people over the last year or so when trying to bid on ANYTHING*. This week is my lucky week and I get it when trying to bid using THE WEB SITE (not an app) on A COMPUTER (not a phone) running LINUX (not Windows) and FIREFOX 117.0 (not any other cranky browser). No, I'm not going to buy another computer, buy a commercial operating system, load a different browser, nor switch to an app on a cell phone, tablet, or smart watch. Everything worked FINE a week ago, I changed approximately NOTHING since then (no, I don't auto-update my browser to AVOID problems like this). So why does it not work now? EBay has changed something, I have not. Thank goodness for their useless and uninformative error messages. I don't know how I managed to survive a 40 year career as a software engineer without learning how to write unhelpful error messages with zero diagnostic value. As expected, "refreshing my browser" accomplishes nothing. Yes I have uBlock Origin installed however: (1) I have had no problems with it to date and (2) when I disable it, I get the same behavior. I also have NoScript installed, again with the same caveats. Does anyone have any information on how to work around this issue? Or should I walk away from ebay until they figure it out, like most of their other problems they have pushed out into production before the code has been tested?
