Ebay Authentication Guarantee Damaged My Card
I purchased this card below on ebay. It arrived damaged after being sent from ebay's authentication guarantee site in florida. This is the second card I have had that arrived damaged from this service.
Original Seller Photo
First off the seller has said they have never opened this. This has a Panini seal on it. The original listing did not have this hair included in the photo. I am assuming this came from ebay's authentication. It is on the bottom of the silver bar.
All four corners of this card has damage. It looks like they rubbed the front face of the corners to where the reflective material has come off from handling it. The card case leaves a hollow area to where the corners of the card do not touch the case.
The bottom as a ding on the front face.
To the left of the card near the silver bars corner is what looks to be a finger nail indent. None of this damage is shown on the original listing photo.
I have sent this card back to the company to get a refund on this item as they have damaged the value on this card. I did not open this card and left it with the tamper proof seal intact. They said they could not find the hair and are sending it back.....why???? It is damaged by the authentication company. Minute damage drastically affects the value of a card. I could care less about the hair. I want a refund. Is there anyway to resolve this?

·3 years agoRemember you are buying through ebay - a place that, as a user, locks you into binding private arbitration in the user agreement & removes you from the courts on legal disputes. If you are able to do ANYTHING, pray that there is a loophole that excludes the authentication company from this coverage, as it is a third party contractor. Where ebay does all of it's legal in Califlowenia, odds are good not. But that would be my focus. Best!

·3 years agoI suspect they have to work fast too. You have tried a call to eBay?

OP3 years agoJust a last statement for anyone who sees this in the future. This picture below is from eBay's own website "Sell securely with Authenticity Guarantee". They have been repeatedly been given proof of damages. They have not bothered to refute said photos of damage or even compare it with the sellers listing.
Anyone with issues like mine should file a issue with the BBB or with the FTC (report fraud).
Fraud: a person or thing intended to deceive others, typically by unjustifiably claiming or being credited with accomplishments or qualities. The statement below currently meets that criteria since they will not cover CGC's damage.

·3 years agoFile a chargeback. All sales final is you can't dispute authenticity. You should be able to dispute wear or damage that wasn't disclosed. If they don't let you then buyers should file a chargeback.

OP3 years agoI am not thrilled with this process as it allows the company who damaged my card to also be judge and jury. I was hoping for some accountability. I have asked for someone within the Authentication Guarantee program to review the information, however eBay refuses to do so. I have also contacted the seller in regards to this issue to get no answer.

OP3 years agoEbay on facebook is talking me in circles having me to continue to repost the same info time and time again.
They have not offered me anyone from the Authenticity Guarantee Program or from the authenticator in Florida even though I have repeatedly asked. I have offered a video of the card to point out the damage and show that the hair is inside the container by rubbing the slab as well as to confirm the authenticators seal was not broken. I am not going to open a damaged card. I feel my only option at this point is either to screw the seller and file a paypal claim for something that is the authenticators fault or take the authenticator to small claims court.

OP3 years ago"We appreciate you authenticating the account! After review, I am afraid we won't be able to escalate this further as the card has been returned and inspected by our authenticators already. I understand this is disappointing, but I do hope you understand our position. While we don't have the ability to take action, we can pass along your experience. ~Cecilia"

·2 years agoLOL what an absolute joke coming from a billion dollar company. No accountability.

·3 years agoI would contact ebay and ask specifically to speak to someone from the Authenticity Guarantee program. Their regular customer support people probably know very little about the program.

OP3 years agoI am waiting for the information. The only way I can get anyone to talk to me is though ebay's facebook page. There are no other options on ebay that will get me to the right person to talk to.
Here below is the other card they damaged, but refunded. One corner is worn down. There is fragments outside the penny sleeve and inside it. They likely shoved the card in initially without the penny sleeve. There was also cardboard fragments inside the packaging that can scratch up the card. This company authenticating this product is quite negligent in the handling of other peoples property.
From ebay on facebook: Thanks for the additional information but I'm afraid we cannot dispute the decision made by the authenticators. We apologize if that is not the outcome you were hoping for but we appreciate your understanding. ~Veronica
