Ebay Authenicated a Pair of Fake Sneakers
I purchased a pair of Orange Lobsters and received today. I noticed the outsole on the right pair was very odd. It looked like it was inflated and puffy or something.

I compared the outsole to my retail pair of Huff Dunks and the outsole tread is completely different. The Huff dunks threads looks well defined, but the Lobsters outsole tread looks puffy and inflated.

The outsole also doesn't feel the same, more plastic than rubber.

I am requesting a refund of the seller, but I doubt that will help. Is there a way to contact ebay to get a refund?

·3 years agoIf the puffy soles are a confirmed trait of a counterfeit shoe, then eBay authenticity clearly messed up. You can TOTALLY tell from the photos that the shoes are different. Just hope it’s a known design variant from Nike or something.

OP3 years agoI am an avid sneaker collector and have seen and owned many dunks with and without the exposed midsole (these are without the exposed midsole) and I have never seen this before. I understand Nike qc is not the greatest, but this is not normal for a nike sneaker.Â

Not only is the outsole puffy, the tread pattern is also not normal. In hand you can see a clear difference in the tread pattern of the outsole. The tread pattern around the nike logo is defined on authentic pairs (see black pair), while a lot of fakes do not mimic the pattern that well (see orange pair).

I also own many jordan 1 which use a very similar outsole and this has never been an issue.

·3 years agoYou could contact Nike. See if they just were not made in a different factory or any design changes were made. Â

·3 years agoIf the seller accepts returns you can go to the item in your purchase history and click the blue Return this item button. Unfortunately, if the seller doesn't accept returns you're out of luck. With the Authenticity Guarantee if the seller doesn't accept returns it's considered a final sale and can't be returned.

The listing said no returns, but it also said they were authentic.

·3 years agoIf the listing said no returns you may sadly be out of luck. One of the huge drawbacks of eBay's authentication services is that there's no easy recourse if the authenticators make an error. You'll have zero chance of getting past eBay's 'final sale' rule without a statement from an authorized Nike dealer that the shoes are fake. Once you get that, reach out to customer service through Facebook, www.facebook.com/eBayForBusiness. Those reps are much better than the third-party contractors you get through the normal CS channel. Present the proof you've obtained and hope for the best.Â
