eBay AI
Summary: 1950rek reported an issue with an eBay listing that was incorrectly categorized, leading a misleading product to appear in search results. eoma689485 suggested reporting the issue under a different policy category, while pickapaper expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of reporting due to the overwhelming number of listings and reliance on AI. sgtskiddz shared a similar experience, noting that listings evaluated by humans were more likely to be flagged correctly. eburtonlab proposed refining search terms to achieve better results and questioned whether the seller was intentionally manipulating searches.
We looked into your report and didn’t find the listing to be in violation of our policy.
This determination was made using automation or artificial intelligence.
I submitted a "search manipulation" report for a listing shown after I entered an
ADVANCED Search for "Solid Copper, Quad Shield, RG6 Cable".
The listing shown was NOT for solid copper, it was for Copper Clad Steel,
listed as "Solid Core."
A copper-clad steel (CCS) core is not the same as a solid copper core,
though both are manufactured as a single solid piece of metal rather than stranded.

OP1 week agoIt seems that not all AIs are created equal.
"1950rek reported a misleading eBay listing that was INCORRECTLY rejected by eBay's automated system..."
Nice that the summary AI didn't default into a "Reporter" error mode or shake some eBay cheerleader pom poms ...

It may be that your search is too broad. A solid core is not the same as solid copper, but your search will find both sorts of listings as long as all your keywords are present in the title or item-specifics.
You could try searching solid-copper as a search term (with the dash to ensure those words appear in order), though not all sellers may list using that exact phrase.

Or you could try using something like the original search but excluding a term that you know you do not want to appear in your search results such as clad or solid.core instead:

·1 week agoI had a similar experience. I reported three listings that had false claims in the title so they would show up in searches that didn’t pertain to them. They all did the exact same thing. Two came back as no violation found, and one came back as removed for violation. Under each one it stated who made that determination. The two left up were “reviewed” by an automated eBay algorithm. The one found in violation said it was reviewed by an eBay associate. So the human saw what they were doing but the algorithm missed it.

·1 week agoThere are more than 2 billion listings on eBay so there are bound to be thousands of listing "errors", intentional or accidental. Since AI is now doing most, if not all, of the responses to reports, it is not finding anything wrong with a lot of the reports, whether the reports are correct or not.
I don't bother to report anything anymore. It's a waste of my time.

·1 week agoeBay's automated system rejected your report because you reported it under the wrong policy category.
Try again, and look for Misleading Titles / Misrepresentation.
