Ebay about to lose this 25-year customer after first dispute
I've bought and sold on a single ebay account since 1999. 100% rating and I've never filed a dispute (that I can recall). I ordered an item and it did not arrive to me. I called Fexdex and they said it went to entirely different address, but won't tell me what other address is, for security reasons. However, I can see on ebay that it went to a different zip code. Seller won't refund or send again. I filed a dispute with ebay, talked with an agent twice. Case was closed with no refund, saying it was delivered to me. I appealed, providing images proving it went to a different zip code and signed by someone else. Waiting for response but assuming the worst. I don't want to quit ebay, but the first time I've asked for assistance in 25 years, and they aren't honoring me, at all. Got any other ideas?

OP2 years agoHurray I prevailed! I kept poking around and finally got through I was going to cancel my acct. That got attention. I got a refund and ebay acknowledged what I claimed from the beginning.

·2 years agoSo, I received a FedEx package the other day like many others.
When you go into tracking you can request updates on the tracking...it's free...just type in your email address to FedEx...you see and get updates of what day it is being delivered...when it is out for delivery...and window of delivery within a 2 hour frame...and then delivered.
Did you not ever get any emails in your "inbox of emails" about it arriving and delivered as thus?
Not talking about the eBay site...but FedEx site by the way for tracking.

OP2 years agoNot sure what this would establish. I watched the tracking and saw when it was delivered, but it wasn't delivered to me. It went to another address. Fedex verified the shipping label had another address on it, but won't say what it is.

·2 years agoSeller has done something wrong if he is not addressing the problem.
As a seller myself I would check the tracking of a shipped item to the buyer.
"Seller won't refund"...I guess the seller is not addressing the problem accordingly.
This is more of a seller - buyer situation than FedEx and it's not up to you to address FedEx.
You can always address the seller with a feedback response of some sort.
Not sure of the feedback rating of this seller...hoping you didn't purchase an item from a seller with a lot of negative feedback or if seller is a new seller.
"merchant uses an eBay FedEx account"...I can't believe this seller won't do anything.
As a last resort, there is always a credit card chargeback dispute with your banking source since it doesn't show item with your address mailed to you. So you never got the item. You can do that online if you have your banking online on your computer.

You need to know whether the package was delivered to the other address accidentally … OR if the seller put the wrong address on the package. FedEx should be able to tell you that.
If your address wasn’t on the package … then you should request a statement from FedEx attesting to that fact. You can then phone your credit card company to request a chargeback. [It helps to speak directly with their Fraud Department.]
I found it easiest to deal with FedEx at their 800 number, rather than my local outlet.

OP2 years agoYes, FedEx said it went to a different address entirely. They provided a case number, saying Ebay can use to investigate, because the merchant uses an Ebay FedEx account. I'm not sure I believe this, but sent ebay the information.

Thank you for that information. It is unusual because FedEx usually won't tell you much of anything. And yes, eBay is considered the 'merchant' of record when the shipping label is purchased through eBay.
How was this case number transmitted to you? i.e. a letter? an email?
Did you speak to a particular department at FedEx?
We would like to know so we can help others that have this problem. (You are the third person today).
Though I think you may have prevailed in an appeal due to the tracking going to a different Zip Code, there are so many, entirely too many in fact, victims of this. Glad it worked out for you!

OP2 years agoI called FedEx customer support. I don't think I called a particular department. They asked for my tracking number, and also my name and address. I explained the situation and asked them to create a letter saying it was not delivered to my address. They did nor offer this, but did give me a case number, a series of digits, read aloud to me. They said this would be meaningful to ebay as the Fedex acct holder.
All that said, I kept pushing ebay through customer service and but wasn't asked for the Fedex case number, even when i offered. I think the warning I was going to cancel my acct made a difference to them. It ended the situation quickly, which had dragged along about two weeks.

Thank you very much for your reply. It is most appreciated.

·2 years agoYou need to get a letter from FedEx stating that the package was not addressed to you, file a police report and mail fraud with USPS.
Once you have those, use them to appeal the case.

·2 years agoTO HECK WITH APPEALING!
Gather all that info, and then contact the California AG's office and demand that they charge ebay with FRAUD!
They've been pulling garbage like this for over 20 years, and they need to get hammered for it.

·2 years agoI know I'll be told you can't do this blah blah, but if it says delivered and you have proof it's a different postal code that sure doesn't sound like it was described, if you catch my drift.
